QUOTES FROM “REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER”

Following are quotables from “Real Time with Bill Maher” for Friday, May 14th, 2010. “Real Time with Bill Maher” airs Fridays at 10:00PM ET (10:00PM PT, tape delayed) on HBO, with additional replays throughout the week on HBO and HBO 2.

I Hope she’s a lesbian. The Court could use a lesbian.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue, regarding Elena Kagan

She apparently was so motivated to be on the Supreme Court that there are pictures of her in her high school yearbook wearing judge’s robes. I mean, there are some people who say it's weird to know what you want that early in life. I disagree. Because there are pictures of me in my high school yearbook where I am completely high.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue, regarding Elena Kagan

He said, "I have not engaged in any homosexual behavior whatsoever.” But you know what dude, when you go to a website called RentBoy.com, which he did, and that website says, "For the tightest asses on the internet, click here" - and then you click there – I think that's homosexual behavior.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue, regarding George Rekers

They passed a bill … banning public schools now from offering any courses in ethnic studies. It’s funny, you know, they never say they’re targeting Mexicans specifically, but I think we get that idea. Today they passed a bill that said beans can only be fried once.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue, regarding Arizona

We're still dropping things on it. This is like if your toilet over-flowed and you tried to fix it by smashing it with a brick. Their next idea is to get the old lady from Titanic and she’s going to throw her jewelry at it.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue, regarding the oil spill

The oil company said it was the rig company's fault. The rig company said it was Halliburton. And somehow, each time they passed the blame, Goldman Sachs made a hundred million dollars.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue

Just in time for Christmas, the queen of “Drill Baby Drill,” Sarah Palin, has a new book out. It was announced this week. It’s called, America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag. And for Sarah, that’s two books in two years, or as she calls it, her trilogy.

- Bill Maher, in his opening monologue

New Rule: Stop acting like six dead dolphins washing up on the Gulf Coast is some sort of mystery. Wildlife officials say it's "unclear" what happened to the dolphins. Yeah, one minute they were swimming through a humongous petrochemical spill, and the next minute just gone. Maybe it was a suicide pact. Or they were all riding in a Toyota. Maybe they swam too close to Haiti and Sean Penn killed them for taking his picture.

- Bill Maher, in his “New Rules” segment

New Rule: Stop calling disasters with a single survivor a "miracle." When 103 people die, but one lives, that's not a miracle. That's God blowing a no-hitter in the bottom of the ninth.

- Bill Maher, in his “New Rules” segment

This week's guests were Sebastian Junger, Rep. Darrel Issa, S.E. Cupp, John Avlon and Mayor Cory Booker.

Authority is evil

Question: We have been told that thought must be controlled to bring about that state of tranquillity necessary to understand reality. Could you please tell us how to control thought? Krishnamurti: First, Sir, don't follow any authority. Authority is evil. Authority destroys, authority perverts, authority corrupts; and a man who follows authority, is destroying himself, and destroying also that which he has placed in a position of authority. The follower destroys the master, as the master destroys the follower. The guru destroys the pupil, as the pupil destroys the guru. Through authority you will never find anything. You must be free of authority to find reality. It is one of the most difficult things to be free of authority, both the outer and the inner. Inner authority is the consciousness of experience, consciousness of knowledge. And outward authority is the State, the party, the group, the community. A man who would find reality must shun all authority, external and inward. So, don't be told what to think. That is the curse of reading: the word of another becomes allimportant. The questioner begins by saying: "We have been told." Who is there to tell you? Sir, don't you see that leaders and saints and great teachers have failed, be cause you are what you are? So leave them alone. You have made them failures because you are not seeking truth, you want gratification. Don't follow anyone, including myself; don't make of another your authority. You yourself have to be the master and the pupil. The moment you acknowledge another as a master and yourself as a pupil, you are denying truth. There is no master, no pupil, in the search for truth. The search for Truth is important, not you or the master who is going to help you to find the truth. You see, modern education, and also the previous education, have taught you what to think, not how to think. They have put you within a frame, and that frame has destroyed you; because you seek out a guru, a teacher, a leader, political or other, only when you are confused. Otherwise you never follow anybody. If you are very clear, if you are inwardly a light unto yourself, you will never follow anyone. But because you are not, you follow, you follow out of your confusion; and what you follow must also be confused. Your elders, as well as yourself, are confused, politically and religiously. Therefore, first clear up your own confusion, become a light unto yourself, and then the problem will cease. The division between the master and the pupil is unspiritual. Now, the questioner wants to know how to control thought. First of all, to control it, you must know what thought is and who is the controller. Are they two separate processes, or a joint phenomenon? You must first understand what thought is, must you not?, before you say, "I will control thought; and also you must know what the controller is. Is there a controller without thought? If you have no thoughts, is there a thinker? The thinker is the thought, the thought is not separate from the thinker, they form a single process.

GULF OIL SPILL WOW!!! Look up the AP article titled "Gulf Offshore Oil Dispute Pits Bush Against Bush" where former Interior Secretary Gale Norton expands Gulf Drilling and the Coast Guard says a blowout catastrophe is inevitable! I went to http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives and searched Secretary Gale Norton and Oil and came up with that article from April 21, 2001 (The rig blew up on April 21, 2010 ironically) and many other amazing articles about her corruption and being hired by Shell after leaving office at the Deparment of Interior. I can't believe that this hasn't come up in the press before? What a scandal!!! Working on my thesis proposal about Offshore Drilling. Input appreciated.

Bill, by his own admission, Obama does not qualify as a Christian.

If you heard an atheist say, “I’m an atheist who believes in God”, you would probably say to yourself, “I don’t think that person quite understands atheism”. Here’s what Jesus said about eternal life: "... I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25b-26). He also said, “In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3).

Now, here’s Obama’s words from a larger conversation with his daughter about life after death:

“I wondered whether I should have told her the truth, that I wasn't sure what happens when we die, any more than I was sure of where the soul resides or what existed before the Big Bang.” — Barack Obama (Time, book excerpt, Oct 15, 2006)

I believe Mr. Obama when he says he doesn’t know. But, that’s precisely what puts him at odds with Jesus. Jesus said He did know! And, promised that reality to all who believed in Him (see John 3:16-18; 5:24-25; 6:47; 11:25-27).

Bill, I agree with you vs. mayor Cory Booker. This mayor doesn't understand Christianity. Jesus of Nazareth did say, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

This counts as an exclusive truth claim. Someone observed that if Jesus isn't the only way, then He does not even qualify as "a" way — because He would not have told the truth about Himself (about being the only way). And, because Jesus did tell the truth — always— He is the only way.

Now, why is this arrogant, if true? The 7 mile bridge is the only way to drive to Key West from Miami. Not arrogant. Just true.

Second, Jesus promised eternal life to those who believe His promise. So, if the mayor doesn't know whether he has eternal life or not, then he has not believed in Jesus.

If he did believe Jesus, he would be able to answer "I'm sure" because Jesus always told the truth, and promised eternal life not only when you die but really from the moment you believe Him. He said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal life" (John 6:47).

The mayor agreed that he does not know what will happen to him when he dies. Yet, in the Bible, Jesus promises eternal life as a gift — without equivocation— to all who believe in Him. Jesus knows what Mayor Booker doesn't!

Mayor Booker needs to read the Gospel of John and ask himself whether he believes in Jesus or not.

Watching your show as I write this...

As an atheist I run into this arguement surrounding the benefits vs the drawbacks of regilion very often. I find it extremely helpful - and necessary - to distinguish what it is we each relate and mean when using word like "religion", "faith", "spirituality". For myself, a religion is an organised, top-down, institution (literally and conceptually) and every such organisation is little more than a political structure. Sprituality describes any set of beliefs attached to or entwined with the conception of 'a spirit'; this may or may not relate to gods or a god. Faith, on the other hand, is something quite a bit more personal and can even vary among those of the same religions; too it may or may not exist in relation to a religion, or a spirtual belief system. One might even say that atheism is the nature of one's faith, or that faith is derived from the nature of one's atheism.

On your show this evening, you argue that war is envigorated by religion, while a guest argues this is endeavored by people, not faith. Another guest adds that faith is proven to improve people's lives. The discussion proceeds as if all notions of faith are synonymous with the word 'religious'. This is not so, and is perhaps moreso a parochial assumption, me thinks.

What is a coy distraction, in my view, are the political structures staking claim to basic human decency. Religion didn't create this for humans, humans created religions. Humans are the true source of all notions of transcendent potential, love, Goodness, etc. Religious structures are no more the source of faith, than faith is the drummer in a march toward war (which is rare). Religion, however, can take credit for organising collective sociopolitical prejudices and phobias and setting the beat of the afore mentioned drum... Etc. so on, and so forth, etc.

Thus! To make such inquiries among each other, is to understand why and upon what exactly we may be disagreeing about the first place.... ; )

After watching like almost 10 hours of "Real Time" in a row (!) I suddenly felt desperate. Desperate for my own country to come up with a person like Mr.Maher to build an equal intellectual, funny, smart, always truth-seeking and upstanding extraparliamentary opposition like Mr.Maher is and always was.
If there is just one thing for which I envy you american people - it's Bill Maher.
Because Health Care surely is not.

And by the way - I don't know too, why there are still so many american troops here in Rammstein, Germany. But have you seen our government? I know it's expensive for you but I rather like the troops to stay - just in case.

Corexit Does Not Correct It:

Dear President Obama,

My name is Todd Allen, and I live in the beautiful state of Virginia. I am a bartender by trade. Admittedly, I hold no degrees or specific qualifications for the matter in which I wish to address. I am simply a concerned citizen who loves nature and believes it should be preserved, even if it hurts a company's profits. I have been following the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico with concern blooming into anger. Why is my government allowing British Petroleum to "fix" its mistake by pumping more toxic chemicals into our waters? The EPA is allowing them to pour hundreds of thousands of gallons of Corexit 9500 into the Gulf, which will be delivered into the fragile marshes of the Gulf States, as well as the coral reefs of Florida. It will then be brought to the waters of the Mid-Atlantic, where I live, by the Gulf Stream.

Corexit 9500 is toxic, and just how toxic we do not know. Having a tendency to bio-concentrate, it will most likely end up in fish; eventually, it will make its way up the food-chain and on to our dinner tables. This is especially troubling, because according to the EPA website, no toxicology tests have been done on Corexit 9500, so we do not know how toxic it is to humans. Further studies by the EPA show that Corexit 9500 is only 54.7% effective for the type of crude oil that is being released into the Gulf, so we may very well be polluting our waters more to no gain. Also, the dispersants render the booms useless, and make skimming the oil off the top almost impossible. As far as this disaster goes: Corexit does not correct it. There are better ways to clean up this mess, which is why I am writing you; the point of this email is not just to complain. I believe I have a solution to this problem that is relatively quick, surprisingly simple, uses no chemicals, and allows much of the "lost" oil to be recovered for later use.

Oil companies are in business for one purpose: to make a profit, and they are extremely good at that. BP alone raked in over $16.5 billion last year in net profits, and they did even better the year before. Exxon Mobil's record-breaking $45.2 billion last year is even more staggering. The bottom line is that, while my idea may cost more than toxic chemicals, big oil has more than enough money to pay for it. I find it a small price to pay for us allowing them to make billions, often at our expense and rarely at their own. I am confident the American people will agree.

I have been a long time fan of pretty much every one of Bill's views (religion, politics, etc). But what he said at the end of the last show was very disturbing to me.

For someone who believes in open transparent government, and who thinks the government is not doing a good job right now, I find it very strange that Bill would endorse Apple so heavily. This is a company who's business model thrives on screwing its end users, locking them into EULA's (End User License Agreements) that essentially "rent" the hardware to users, and then force them into a locked down, non-open, and very "straight and narrow" path in terms of software. Apple has limited the ways that programmers and users can use their devices to what THEY SAY is ok. Their approval process for applications go through a "mysterious" and "un-disclosed" process that nobody knows, which means their whim is iron-clad.

While their business model is good for them, and while their technological advancements are impressive, NOBODY should want a government run the way that Apple is run. Apple is run as a monarchy, essentially, with Steve Jobs dictating to everyone how, when, why, and where to do things with no user input or process to change the "rules". If government was run like Apple, the President would be able to become a monarch, no citizen would be able to do anything without consent from the government/president, and there would be no avenue for change. People allowed to serve on said government, representatives, etc. would be restricted to those who the government chose, with no external review process or public insight.

The list goes on and on as to why an "Apple" run government would be a VERY scary, VERY closed-off, bad thing. I can't believe Bill would suggest this all without researching the BAD about Apple, instead of focusing only on the GOOD. Everyone is starry-eyed and giddy over how pretty their devices are, and it seems that Bill has been swept away in the same river most other hardcore Apple supporters have.

GULF OFFSHORE OIL DISPUTE PITS BUSH AGAINST BUSH

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Text:
A political and environmental fight is brewing over offshore drilling in the eastern region of the Gulf of Mexico, while in the rest of the Gulf a deepwater boom is in full swing.

Interior Secretary Gale Norton is proceeding with plans to open an additional 6 million acres south of the Florida Panhandle to drill for oil.

The federal government for years has leased offshore tracts off Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, close to the Panhandle.

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had urged Norton not to move forward with a lease sale in the area. But she plans to post notice of the sale in July. The governor opposes drilling within 100 miles of the coast. Leases have been sold up to the line of the disputed area; a government map shows a working rig about 30 miles southwest of Pensacola.
U.S. Rep. Billy Tauzin, D-La., said the area selected for drilling is closer to his district than it is to the Florida coast. Tauzin said he told President Bush it would be impossible to open areas for drilling, such as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, while excluding the eastern Gulf.

Most of the lease area, shaped like Idaho, is 100 miles or more from Florida, but a narrow arm is about 15 miles south of Gulf Shores, Ala.

Jeb Bush said Floridians believe protecting their beaches from spills and environmental damage is vital.
But Norton said she had to consider energy needs, pointing out the area has an estimated 396 million barrels of oil and 2.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

The petroleum industry has said it can drill in the area safely.

A Coast Guard expert said a rig blowout could be a catastrophe because there is no technology to control it. ''That situation is bound to occur,'' said Patrick Cuty, head of the Coast Guard's Environmental Response Division in Morgan City, La. ''It's just a matter of when.''

Many atheists behave as though simply being one is somehow a sign that they're more rational, more logical, and perhaps even more intelligent than believers. Whether Christian or Muslim, and NONE, absolutely NONE of this is true! But if you would pause for a moment and ponder the boundless expanse of the universe, and even those unknown universes, you'll catch a fleeting glimpse of His glory! Beside our sun, the nearest star is 4.3 light years away! Just so this number doesn't remain a mere figure, let's expound on it. Light travels at the speed of 186,282 miles per second-not per hour but PER SECOND! That's roughly 670,000,000 miles per hour. Now, our airplanes can only fly approximately 500 miles per hour. The moon orbits roughly 239,000 miles from the earth, so if we traveled to the moon by plane it would take about 19 days, but light reaches there in 1.3 seconds! Let's continue. The sun is 93,000,000 miles from the earth. If you boarded a jumbo jet today and traveled to the sun, your journey would take over twenty-one years!!!! And that's a non-stop flight too! LOL Can you imagine flying that long without a moments break to fly to the sun, Phew! For those of you who prefer driving to flying, well... it couldn't be done in a lifetime. Let's leave the sun and move onto the nearest star. We already know it's 4.3 light years from the earth, but if we built a scale model of the earth, sun, and the nearest star, it would be as follows: In proportion, the earth would reduce to the size of a peppercorn, and the sun would become the size of an eight-inch-diameter ball. According to this size scale, the distance from the earth to the sun would be twenty-six yards, which is only a quarter the length of a football field. Yet remember, for a scale airplane to span that twenty-six yard distance, it would take more than twenty-one years. So if this is the earth's and sun's ratio, can you guess how far the nearest star would be to our peppercorn earth? A thousand yards? Maybe two thousand? A mile? Not even close. Our nearest star would be placed four thousand miles away from the peppercorn! That means if you put the peppercorn earth in San Diego, the nearest star on our scale model would be positioned past New York City and into the Atlantic Ocean a thousand miles out to sea! To reach this closest star by plane would take approximately fifty-one BILLION YEARS, NON-STOP!!!!!! That's 51,000,000,000 years! And yet light only travels to the earth in only 4.3 years. Now, I said all of that to say this... Bill Maher (bless his heart and others) claim to be aethists. But to make such a prideful and very arrogant life choice would suggest that he (and others) has scaled every square inch of this entire universe, as well (and those that haven't even been discovered yet.) to determine whether or not upon their return to Earth that there is indeed no such Entity as God or His Son the Christ! And since NO ONE and I do mean no one has EVER or (based on the evidence) COULD ever make such a very extensive travel around the entire universe, the most that one could ever hope to be is Agnostic! While you're pondering the evidence in this blog, please try and have a blessed day!

What is it w/ some Texans?

Politically conservative, understood.

They seem to act as if there is a "chip" on their shoulder and a sign on their chest daring everyone to knock it off.

However, when you don't take the dare, they act as if you have no sense, no courage and are not a true citizen of the United States. (by the way, we are Americans, but so are Mexicans, Costa Rican's, Brazilians and anyone from this hemisphere!)

Trust me when I say that it's best to negotiate from a position of strength, that right does make might, and if that fails, "buffaloing" the opposition into acquiescence is a valid tactic. And with that in mind, having a couple of Texans (good cop, bad cop) as back-up is a great idea.

But why do Texans (generally) think Sarah Palin is the greatest thing since peanut butter?

Personally, I consider her a moron (Function: noun: a person with mild mental retardation), and affected with fetal alcohol syndrome. Her views are one dimensional with no familiarity with nuance or subtlety.

Hey! I've got it! (I have lived in both, so I have some knowledge here)

She, along with most Alaskans, have an inferiority complex when it comes to Texas! She must think that she has to show her masculinity by wearing a gun (penis envy?) just like TEXICANS (pre-Alamo Texan) who out of prudence carried a colt navy. When simply living in a place like rural Alaska would seem to dictate having a .44 mag on your hip for bear protection if nothing else.

But Sarah is simply riding a populist wave of ignorance in order to fatten her own bank account. This must be why she bailed on her job as gov. of Alaska.

It's my opinion, that we listen to her for the same reason that we need to watch a train wreck.

WHAT IS YOUR OPIION (by the way, I have MS and type w/ one finger, so please pardon the rambling nature of the post, I'm naturally scatter-brained)

Dear Bill Mayer,

l Iam a fan of the show and I decided to write this email, whether you ever read it or not shrugs. Anyway Iam a 28 year old male who runs two sites and are both political involved. For the last two years I have been doing articles bloddging and even on the local talk aradio about various topics and I have studied at penn state lol, for economics and Iam a union carpenter. Iam not saying all this to hit on you, the problem is recently I have really been being bashed and even thrown off a few political sites because of my realistic views and life. First, I will say that I have no children and Iam just a young good looking guy with a perfetc record but date alot, well they used that against me and they used my site against me because it is setup for the youth. I apologize for jumping around on subjects iam just slightly pissed off because of what happenned early today. I have tried to explain That president Obamas and his adminastrations main tactics was to place money in State welfare and unemployment hoping that with soem luck jobs will pick up and it is a noble plan. The Problem is that june 2, 2010 the extsnions end and if this happens all the work forward will be for not. They need to place a extension until atleast the end of the year especially because they just announced the highest unemployment filing sin three months. Well I have written to all the senators,a dn spoke on various sites and all I have received is critism big time. Also, most of these douche bags who tear me down for my persoanl life which they looke dup on my personal website(gay), has nothing to do with the issue but they wish to keep it quiet and just talk about subjects and organzie nothing as has become the latest trend, sinc ethey forget the days when they were hippes and woudl protest on the streets against such injustices, and did not teach their children these values. At the sametime a secondary point is this oil spill is teh worst disaster ever, it sthe size of texas and still going on and leaking and noone even seems to care. Anyway I wrot eteh president today with my las article form townhall using my pen name Cyril O'Dougherty but Iam about to be removed form that site now. That sbasically it for now just wanted to let you knwo Iam a huge fan and to let you know some americans who are young and out with chicks are still caring about this nation. Dear Bill Mayer,

l Iam a fan of the show and I decided to write this email, whether you ever read it or not shrugs. Anyway Iam a 28 year old male who runs two sites and are both political involved. One is 13th Chamber it is more for the youth, and the other is the People's political and society association. Thank you very much if you read this.

Bill, this week you did a segment on how British government runs vs. the American government.

What about your neighbour to the north? And WHY have you not made mention of the extradition of Marc Emery, to serve FIVE YEARS in a us prison for selling marijuana seeds - a crime punishable by a $200 fine her in Canada.

For a pot advocate, you're falling behind on what is the latest travesty in the "drug war"

The Arizona immigration law has nothing to do with going after cleaning ladies!! Arizona has the 2nd highest kidnapping rate in the WORLD!! The border towns are under siege! You think all those criminals are legal Americans that just flock to AZ to commit their crimes? And your audience cheers that idiot statement!? You may be doing it for comedic value but your audience can't tell the difference! Get a clue moron! You're not helping this country, you're hurting it! I used to watch your show even though your a teabagging republican basher(god forbid we disagree on things), that it results in personal attacks on us. You're not even worth watching anymore. Just deleted you from my DVR.

Hey Bill, where did you get the idea that people who are Christians believe everything in the Bible literally? Even the Biblical literalists fudge things. Rather than dismiss all Christians as idiots, which is hardly the basis of an intelligent discussion (don't ad hominem attacks automatically end the discussion according to the rules of logic?), why not explore what people really believe and how those beliefs influence their actions? I don't think I've known a single mainstream Protestant or Roman Catholic who believes that "no man gets to God but through me." That little nugget that appears in only one gospel was inserted later for political reasons, just as a hierarchal Christianity that contradicts the actual teachings of Jesus took hold for political reasons that had to do with Constantine wanting to win his little wars.
Your guest was right--you're so dogmatic in your atheism you're as closed minded and simplistic in your thinking as fundamentalists. It's SUCH a disappointment. Why not bring on someone like Elaine Pagels to explore the roots of what is "Christianity" and explore what is the nature of reality? (You have to admire a scholar of Christianity who admits to having done acid for the purpose of expansion of consciousness).
P.S. No, I'm not a Christian. And the most spiritual person I ever knew was a diehard atheist.

Bill,
A self proclaimed, pacifist, atheist is an odd duck to be such a tout for Zionist/Fascist Israel.
Israeli power elite are nothing but a bunch of Right wing, Crazed Orthodox/Bible spouting nutjobs and the IDF is under control of Russian goon squads.
Please Bill, Stop the Hippocratic spiel and stop cutting off Guests, i.e., Stone, Sullivan, VandeHovellet al,
who criticize and try reading Bienhard (a Jew) in NY Review Of Books (online) you will find in your dorterage to be totally out of touch with how younger Jews -let alone the 97 1/2 % the rest of us Goyhams feel about Zionism. Your audience will soon just be a bunch of Yentas in diapers watching the oil spill in into FL.

Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and the Republican right has one overriding goal: the total destruction of President Obama. Ironically, it is the same goal as the Taliban and al Qaeda. If a segment of the population in wartime is working toward the same goal as our enemies, isn’t that called treason?

Illegal aliens! What to do? First there was Columbus, then Cortez, Pizarro, de Soto, Raleigh, Standish, etc. OK, they are just looking for work. A better life. But they take legal citizen’s jobs. And they commit all sorts of crimes. They are, in all respects, a bad influence. They don’t speak the language, have no respect for our customs. And they dress oddly. They don’t even bathe regularly – they stink. Enough! I say, Send them back to Spain or England, or wherever those places are. Who needs them?

I've just been watching your most recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, and I've never been so outraged and disappointed--with you! You allowed two right wing idiots to blather lie after lie about the healthcare reform act, and you and the mime Seth MacFarlane sat there and said virtually nothing as you allowed them to spread their propaganda. Neither of you saw fit to correct them about public opinion polls about the healthcare reform act, which indicate: that the public at large swallowed the lies of the Republicans and opposed the bill that Republicans led them to believe was passed (death panels, reduced Medicare coverage, etc.); that, when asked about the specific proposals actually contained in the bill, the public overwhelmingly supported it; that the GAO estimates that the bill will save over $100 billion over the next ten years, rather than adding to the deficit. Instead of challenging your guests' lies, you sat silently, or used the opportunity to bash the Democrats for not doing a better job of touting their accomplishment. How can they tout an accomplishment when they are drowned out by guests such as yours with their lies and propaganda--while you facilitate them in doing so? Please grow a backbone before you entertain such right wing idiots on your show in the future, so that you can actually provide a public service and inform the public of the truth.
