New Rule: If America Can't Get it Together, We Lose the Bald Eagle

New Rule: If America can't get its act together, it must lose the bald eagle as our symbol and replace it with the YouTube video of the puppy that can't get up. As long as we're pathetic, we might as well act like it's cute. I don't care about the president's birth certificate, I do want to know what happened to "Yes we can." Can we get out of Iraq? No. Afghanistan? No. Fix health care? No. Close Gitmo? No. Cap-and-trade carbon emissions? No. The Obamas have been in Washington for ten months and it seems like the only thing they've gotten is a dog.

Well, I hate to be a nudge, but why has America become a nation that can't make anything bad end, like wars, farm subsidies, our oil addiction, the drug war, useless weapons programs - oh, and there's still 60,000 troops in Germany - and can't make anything good start, like health care reform, immigration reform, rebuilding infrastructure. Even when we address something, the plan can never start until years down the road. Congress's climate change bill mandates a 17% cut in greenhouse gas emissions... by 2020! Fellas, slow down, where's the fire? Oh yeah, it's where I live, engulfing the entire western part of the United States!

We might pass new mileage standards, but even if we do, they wouldn't start until 2016. In that year, our cars of the future will glide along at a breathtaking 35 miles-per-gallon. My goodness, is that even humanly possible? Cars that get 35 miles-per-gallon in just six years? Get your head out of the clouds, you socialist dreamer! "What do we want!? A small improvement! When do we want it!? 2016!"

When it's something for us personally, like a laxative, it has to start working now. My TV remote has a button on it now called "On Demand". You get your ass on my TV screen right now, Jon Cryer, and make me laugh. Now! But when it's something for the survival of the species as a whole, we phase that in slowly.

Folks, we don't need more efficient cars. We need something to replace cars. That's what's wrong with these piddly, too-little-too-late half-measures that pass for "reform" these days. They're not reform, they're just putting off actually solving anything to a later day, when we might by some miracle have, a) leaders with balls, and b) a general populace who can think again. Barack Obama has said, "If we were starting from scratch, then a single-payer system would probably make sense." So let's start from scratch.

Even if they pass the shitty Max Baucus health care bill, it doesn't kick in for 4 years, during which time 175,000 people will die because they're not covered, and about three million will go bankrupt from hospital bills. We have a pretty good idea of the Republican plan for the next three years: Don't let Obama do anything. What kills me is that that's the Democrats' plan, too.

We weren't always like this. Inert. In 1965, Lyndon Johnson signed Medicare into law and 11 months later seniors were receiving benefits. During World War II, virtually overnight FDR had auto companies making tanks and planes only. In one eight year period, America went from JFK's ridiculous dream of landing a man on the moon, to actually landing a man on the moon.

This generation has had eight years to build something at Ground Zero. An office building, a museum, an outlet mall, I don't care anymore. I'm tempted to say that, symbolically, all America can do lately is keep digging a hole, but Ground Zero doesn't represent a hole. It is a hole. America: Home of the Freedom Pit. Ironically, it's spitting distance from Wall Street, where they knock down buildings a different way - through foreclosure.

That's the ultimate sign of our lethargy: millions thrown out of their homes, tossed out of work, lost their life savings, retirements postponed - and they just take it. 30% interest on credit cards? It's a good thing the Supreme Court legalized sodomy a few years ago.

Why can't we get off our back? Is it something in the food? Actually, yes. I found out something interesting researching last week's editorial on how we should be taxing the unhealthy things Americans put into their bodies, like sodas and junk foods and gerbils. Did you know that we eat the same high-fat, high-carb, sugar-laden shit that's served in prisons and in religious cults to keep the subjects in a zombie-like state of lethargic compliance? Why haven't Americans arisen en masse to demand a strong public option? Because "The Bachelor" is on. We're tired and our brain stems hurt from washing down French fries with McDonald's orange drink.

The research is in: high-fat diets makes you lazy and stupid. Rats on an American diet weren't motivated to navigate their maze and once in the maze they made more mistakes. And, instead of exercising on their wheel, they just used it to hang clothes on. Of course we can't ban assault rifles - we're the first generation too lazy to make its own coffee. We're the generation that invented the soft chocolate chip cookie: like a cookie, only not so exhausting to chew. I ask you, if the food we're eating in America isn't making us stupid, how come the people in Carl's Jr. ads never think to put a napkin over their pants?

As for the fake healthcare bullshit bill, I think they are going to trade medical billing caps for a public option in the 12th hour.

It still sucks, I think we'd be better off if this one gets vetoed. Thats a do nothing solution, so maybe yes, we can do this.

What do you think the odds are, we have boots on the ground in Iran by March?

You ask why does the American public put up with foreclosures, healthcare deficiencies, 30% credit card interest charges and everything else? Well what do you think we can do about it? Lou Dobbs, Rush Limbough, Glenn Beck, you and others with a larger audience than I will ever have, can't do anything but complain about it. So what kind of suggestions do you have for us dumb Americans who are fed up but have no strings to pull. Should we cast our one and only vote to get rid of the bums?

In 1997 NORAD said they insure, "Aircraft flying over our air space are monitored seven days a week, 24 hours a day."

In 2004 the Air Force contradictorily said, "Before 2001, 1st Air Force was charged with keeping an eye on the nation’s borders, usually looking for threats in the form of Russian aircraft skirting too close for comfort to the mainland. In those few hours, the command’s mission went from looking outward to looking inward."

You complain about government yet you want bigger government! Government to take care of health care and save the environment? Medicaid is one of several failed attempts of government intervention in citizen's lives by over promising and accumulating debt to pay for it. Face it, government is terribly inefficient and ineffective. Whenever there is a reasonable choice in running something, we should leave it to private enterprise. Government intervention in health care will inevitably lead to the standard of care dropping and lack of an opportunity to make a profit will lead to lack of innovation. Profit drives progress!
As for man made global warming or climate change, and the call for carbon trading - it's all bullshit. The climate always changes and humanity's impact is likely minimal compared to solar radiation, cosmic rays and natural fluctuations in co2 and water vapor levels. The environment is not a linear system, rather it is complex and an understanding in chaos theory, at minimum, is required to determine man's effect on it.

Our government is simply representative of its constituents - lethargic, greedy and ignorant. Its clear that Obama was not the answer as much as I hate to say that.

But I believe the age of American apathy may slowly be coming to a close. It is going to take a war of sorts. And we must take the war to those that conceal and lie and cheat and beg.

To those lobbyists and corporate zombies that feed you your dinner and decide what medicines you will take and which television programs you will watch! Take the war to them.

To the congressional staffers picking and prodding through the pockets of lobbyists and honest American people. To the legislators of plenty - plenty of money and plenty of power. Take the war to them!

IT IS NOT UNTIL THEY REMOVE THE NEEDLE OF GREED FROM THEIR VEINS THAT WE WILL HAVE AN HONEST CONVERSATION ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THIS COUNTRY!

Bill, you are very honest and you are saying all the right things. We need someone like you to become the intrepid leader of the anti-apathy movement. The seeds of a benevolent revolution are ripe and ready to be broken.

We just need a real leader.

OMG, when I saw John Waters I was still chuckling from 'KILL WHITEY'. Too much!

For those of you who don't know why John Waters is outstanding in his fields, find or leech the movie 'Pink Flamingos'. Comprehending this movie is worth about 3 IQ points (mileage varies proportional to distance from the bubble).

Sharp suit, Bill.

I get 33MPG in my car and my friends find my driving aggressive... I get up to 55MPG on my bike, and my elite biker friends think that getting rid of cars is the pollution solution, never mind all the extremely efficient turbo-diesel trucks dragging mass quantities of everything around. You don't look like a biker or a goddamn RUB, so maybe bicycles with assistive motors (MOPEDs) have a future...

"We don't have to destroy our own values to get them." - Paul Krugman

Thats a nice way of summing this old rule: You can't protect or defend freedom by taking it away.

Shallow bench! So right. Get Osama and the slugs will go extinct directly proportional to our support, mainly in education. Should practice this at home too, goddamn idiots hitching jesus to their denial-neuroses track.

CA would have passed gay marriage if it weren't for the *alleged* polygamist molestors next door having telephone access. ATT betrayed us 2 times!

John Waters + an intelligent governor + an economist at the top of his game + Bill Maher? This is the widest and deepest panel you have had to date, and what do you ask? Should we legalize pot?

YES! YES! YES WE SHOULD! NOT IN 2013, NOW! Get with Arnie...

Seeing this, I've got to believe its getting better, better all the time.

I loved your piece on our half done deeds and postponement politics that permeates America down to the marrow. I could not stop thinking about GM's mythical VOLT that they have been promoting for years and will hit the market costing double than the Toyota Prius. The Prius has 10 years of sales history and is still half the price. Who can finance a 40K car with banks like ours?

I had a great idea while watching the show tonight. A few times now you have had some pretty wealthy people come on and say that they are more than willing to pay more taxes for Health Care and other social programs. So here's the idea. network these people together to give a face to rich people who ARE willing to give back. Famous faces saying that they are wiling to pay more might help fight off the faceless corporate machine from sestroying the "Change We Need".

Something that I was amazed by is the recent CARS program (Cash for Clunkers). Ignoring the environmental or economic arguments (scrapping my 89 Chevy Suburban is somehow going to make the 2010 Chevy Suburban more environmentally sound, and cars that were built 5 months prior to being sold with a $4500 rebate from the government is going to reemploy the factory workers that were laid off..,?), the fact that they were able to legislate $1 billion dollars almost overnight is astounding. It is only surpassed by how quickly the second portion, the additional $2 billion dollars that was added just a few weeks later. Why can our lawmakers act so quickly then, to find a way to allow people to purchase vehicles, and yet they so easily waffle health care reform and sending troops to Iraq?

Katrina’s Fourth Anniversary ------

For those of you who still believe that the media pretty much reports the truth, and that the media reported the truth (or close to it) about 9/11, then watch Aaron Broussard (Jefferson Parish President) on September 5, 2005 being interviewed on Meet the Press. Fast forward to 3:10 minutes in the YouTube video below where Broussard says that FEMA officers were cutting down the emergency communication lines days after Katrina blew over:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9dJjAEVZ4g

Did you notice when Aaron Broussard said that FEMA cut the emergency communication lines, Tim Russert ignored that bomb shell revelation?! Russert refused to ask any follow up questions about FEMA cutting Jefferson Parish’s emergency communication lines!

Also, several months after Katrina hit, the National Hurricane Center affirmed that Category 1 -2 winds (74-110 mph) swept over New Orleans, NOT Category 4 or 5 winds:

Google the CNN article title: Katrina was Category 3, not 4

Now, at the time Katrina was approaching New Orleans, government officials/engineers were worried that the New Orleans levee system would not survive a Category 4 or 5 hurricane. There was NEVER any question that the levee system couldn't cope with Category 1 - 2 hurricanes!

Now, did you pay attention to the newscasts on the fourth anniversary of Katrina? All the commentators talked about Category 4 - 5 winds. They STILL won't tell you that the actual winds that hit New Orleans were Category 1 - 2 winds!

Here is something else the media never reported: the levee breached well after Katrina had passed and explosions were heard and seen according to hundreds of eyewitnesses living near the 17th Street levee break:

"Everything was calm, it was late at night and the storm had passed. I thought we had dodged a bullet and there was no water in my house and I was only a block away from the 17th St. break….Then I heard what sounded like a bomb go off from the direction of where the levee gave-way and within a matter of minutes I was forced up on my roof where I floated for about a mile into town before somehow getting to safety." -- Terry Adams, who lives one block away from the 17th St. levee break (http://www.rense.com/general69/blown.htm).

"The stories about people hearing and seeing explosions, as well as stories about bomb residue being found at the scene, never see the light of day or get in the papers or on television.” -- Ryan Washington, New Orleans bus driver and former resident of the lower 9th Ward (http://www.rense.com/general69/blown.htm).

Now, don’t you think the Justice Department would have launched an investigation to determine if maybe a greedy developer possibly working with corrupt New Orleans politicians/officials had a plan to bomb the levee under the cover of a hurricane in order to redevelop the coveted lower 9th ward area with high rise casinos and hotels? Testing for bomb residue would have been easy. But no one investigated that obvious possibility, did they? Hundreds of eyewitnesses report hearing and seeing explosions in an area that had been coveted by government officials and developers for decades and no one is suspicious or curious? What about reporters? Aren’t reporters/media supposed to be curious? Isn’t that a job requirement for a reporter…curiosity? Why the silence?

Are you now beginning to understand how the media covers up crimes committed by elements within the Federal government regardless of the political party in power in Washington, DC?

Bill, you have been misinformed. High fat diets are exactly what peopole should be following. But NOT carbohydrates and sugar. This is where America has been sold a bill of goods. Yes, the research is in, the true research that's been hidden from us for 100 years! Reference "Protein Power" books by Michael and Mary Eades and you will find the truth. Another instance of information that's been withheld by "the big boys". We can get diabetes and many other problems under control by eating a high-fat diet. The pounds are shed, the sugar cravings disappear--amazing. Bill, you need to set the record straight!!!

Bill, I think it's simply that people don't give a damn about anything that they don't think has anything to do with them. Those that aren't for reform try to make the situation as alien to them as possible and the president as alien as possible. People are told that it costs money and a whole hell of a lot of it and it's bad but it costs more to go to war and the fiscal cost isn't in the message. My guess is they think that you can't put price on ending a human life.

There is no TEAM in America but there sure is ME and that is all many are about. I receive SSI and that isn't a great lot. If the legislation wouldn't have passed, this would be something I would be without. I also get Medi-Cal. I just recently moved to Eureka, California from the horrible state of Wyoming and dealt with something very uncomfortable. I saw that there are people in our country without homes for more than just ten seconds. I interacted with them and I did something that actually felt pretty positive. I gave a damn about the person and got them something to eat and gave them a few bucks. It felt so good to help out somebody that I do it whenever I can.

Maybe it's because I feel like I understand what they are going through, I don't know for sure but giving a damn about people other than yourself, even those whom are close to you can do a lot of people good. Maybe what America needs is a little empathy. Maybe those in middle class neighborhoods should try to imagine what it woud be like to be one of over a million children whom are homeless, or living in a neighborhood that many refer to as the bad side of town. Maybe people should actually think about more than themselves and give a damn. Join those whom need help and speak the hell up. Not like the teabaggers at the town halls but like people whom care about other people. That is the only way for America to save itself, give a damn.

Please continue to be a nudge! We need you and others with big voices like yours to wake up the millions of people who have fallen asleep at the wheel. In his 2008 book Quantum Shift, Ervin Laszlo describes this period as a bifurcation point from which we can slide deeper into self-destruction or leap to a higher level of societal evolution. As I read and listen to you and others who point to the bizarre antics of people dragged along by their fear, ignorance and short-sightedness, I am beginning to feel that it's not the political leaders who are going to take timely action in the 11th hour. It's each of us ordinary individuals who recognize the urgency and also can envision some of the solutions. Please pool your network of resources and help the many organizations working towards a sustainable future take the leap! I long for my grandchildren to live in peace on a healthy planet. I believe the uncommon "common man" can achieve this with the backing of big voices like yours. Thank you!

Thank you Bill for speaking the truth about Obama! But the problem is deeper than that, and while American complicity is truly astounding - and needs to be challenged - that is not where the problem resides. Obama is commander-in-chief of American capitalism/imperialism - it's that system that's the problem.

Check out this short video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBhiEKZezhY) from Raymond Lotta on "the rape of the congo & yr cell phone" for a deeper look at what this system is responsible for.

There is an alternative to all this, but only through revolution and communism - and not only is that possible, but it would be a far better world. Bill was right when he told Michael Moore communism is the opposite of capitalism, but then he went on to repeat the same, tired old "conventional wisdom." There is no transcendent human nature - we can change ourselves while changing this system.

(Ray Lotta is also giving a live webcast tues pm, "behind the economic crisis: system failure and the need for revolution" - details at www.revolutionbooksnyc.org. Folks reading this should tune in and bring your hardest questions.)

..for one thing many of the "good" things are Orwellain euphemisms for bad things.

1) Immigration "reform" means amnesty without meaningful enforcement, which will lead to yet more amnesties down the line. The quality of life in the US has been ruined enough, we don't need more damage from immigration, especially illegal immigration (check out http://www.NumbersUSA.com and http://www.FAIRus.org ).

2) True health care reform would be medical savings accounts with only catastrophic coverage being government. I neither want nor need a government or private insurance bureaucrat making my medical decisions with my money for me. Medical savings accounts would give people freedom, and incentives to economize and shop around. Why has Lasik surgery gotten steadily cheaper and better - because it's NOT covered by plans, public or private, so it has a real market incentive to improve, and it has.

theman said...

...and to point 1, Arizona has had great success driving out illegal aliens by insisting that E-Verify be used. Ending illegal immigration is eminently doable by interior enforcement - make E-Verify mandatory with stiff fines for violators to go after the employers of illegal aliens, and blocking all government benefits.

I just watched the Michael Moore clip, well tried to watch it, but it kept buffering? I think that's what it's called. Anyway, Mr. Maher, you said, and I think you've said before something about people not joining together over things and you don't understand why they don't. I don't know, it's crazy, even the smart people who know that things are wrong can't work as a team to get things done, so even the smart people are stupid! I've been on my own for my whole life, I couldn't get anyone to back me up if I gave them a million dollars, it doesn't matter how bad things are, people don't like change, so they'd rather things continue to suck. One small example is this place I worked at once, it was horrible, there was so much bad stuff going on, yet no one ever said anything, there were these four fat bitches who made everyone's life hell, they'd harass anyone new that came to work there and brag about how they could run people off, it was no secret, even the higher ups knew what was going on, but did nothing. So it was just me and a few other employees who would (in the safety of someplace private of course) talk about how horrible it was, yet no one had the balls to stand up to anyone, then I decided I would. That was a huge disaster, not only did it not work with the bitches, but the people who were supposed to be on my side bailed and turned against me. So in the end the four fat bitches ran me off, and the mealy mouthed sissies continued to work there, take the harassment, and say nothing. I realized two things from that experience, one, I am not Norma Ray, and two, that's just how things work, everywhere, in every situation. The "nice" people are too stupid to know how to work together, so the assholes get to run the show.

Mr Maher, I too am frustrated that Health Care reform is slow, but if you really want your commentary to be meaningful you should call out the blue dog dems that are really holding it up. Obama is trying and he wants the public option, but we have a balance of power and it's the three or four dems in Congress that are the ones stopping it from happening. Why don't you call them out by name on your show and tell people what's really going on? Obama isn't perfect but he's trying his butt off on this and it's not fair to blame the lack of progress on him when there are specific dem traitors in Congress who are the ones at fault.

47,000,000 Americans may need health coverage, but they don't all need it right now.

300,000,000 Americans require a stable economy right now.

If the economy collapsed completely right now, 25% of Americans will be very severely fucked, 50% inconvenienced and the poor won't be any worse off than they are now.

Given that the rate of increase of healthcare costs will bankrupt us in 10 years. I don't see this legislation curtailing this phenomena, just shifting the burden onto the backs of it is supposed to help more than they are already getting used.

In 10 years healthcare won't matter if the economic opportunities of all Americans are not fixed, now.

So why is the financial regulation necessary to reign in out of control theives not the 1st priority of this administration, senate, congress and the courts?

You're going to lose all your toys.

Mr. Maher I just read your bee tweet. I'm guessing that the world as we know it is going to come to an end soon. I feel like one of the people in your documentary, "the end is near!". I'm 32 and I'm betting it will come in my lifetime, so I'd like to thank the generations before me for destroying everything without a second thought. I remember being about 5 or 6 and asking my parents where gasoline came from and when they explained about oil, I asked if it was ok that we were taking this oil out of the ground and burning it and they answered just like most people answer when anyone brings up this and similar questions, "Oh, we'll be long gone when anything happens, so don't worry about it". What they should of said is "oh, I"ll be long gone when anything happens, but yeah, you're screwed". I can't believe it when I see people still having babies like everything's just fine, creating more pollution and filling up the landfills with more and more diapers. I guess it's going to be interesting to see what happens.

One of the reasons that Americans have been showing up at town hall meetings with loaded semi-automatic guns and others are talking about gay marriage is because it takes the spotlight off the way that Americans have lost six tenths of their rights under the Bill of Rights. People think that if they can walk around carrying guns and talk about gay marriage that they have plenty of civil rights - you don't, and they won't know until something serious happens.

Attorney: OKC bombing tapes appear edited

OKLAHOMA CITY – Long-secret security tapes showing the chaos immediately after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building are blank in the minutes before the blast and appear to have been edited, an attorney who obtained the recordings said Sunday.

The tapes turned over by the FBI came from security cameras various companies had mounted outside office buildings near the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. They are blank at points before 9:02 a.m., when a truck bomb carrying a 4,000 pound fertilizer-and-fuel-oil bomb detonated in front of the building, [Jesse] Trentadue said. – Associated Press, Sunday September 27, 2009.

Television news is refusing to say the CCTV tapes appear to be doctored!

For more on this story and how the FBI were forced to release CCTV footage, Google ‘Jesse Trentadue.’ Warning: pictures of Jesse Trentadue’s brother’s dead body after he was “interrogated” by the FBI may be disturbing to some.

Bill, I loved your show on the 25th. It is rare that I find something so moving that I actually go to my computer and take the time to post a comment. As simplistic as they may seem, I do have some answers to the question of "why can't we get it together?"
Every time I see Mr. Moore, I am reminded of a little clip of video that has Bush talking to a little old lady and he says, "You work two jobs to make ends meet? That is GREAT!!"
We can't get it together because we took mom out of the home. My mom was always my first and best defense against ignorance. If she had'nt been there to give advice and keep me from stupid stuff, I'd be lost in the world. Our children are lost in the world, being raised by Spongebob and it's no wonder we can't get off our asses! We can't find them with both hands!
Now I'm just your regular average schmuck on the street in KY. I have 3 daughters, run a small business in a "not so nice" part of town and I'm watching it sink like the titanic but, it is very clear to me that people do not know what to do. I feel like most people would very much like to do something....
See, I voted for change. I thought, "Yeah, we can". Stupid me...I thought this guy can see the forest. He knows that we have a right to healthcare just like we get to breathe air everyday. He knows that the first thing to do is bring the insurance companies to their knees. Then I start getting the E-mails about reform and after I finished puking my guts out, I realize there is nothing I can do. Nothing will change enough, in enough time, to save us. My vote means nothing so what do I do now? Most people need to be led to water--just tell'em what to do or where to start and the people that fight it so hard need to realize that when I am sunk, they will take my place in the boat. Is there a way that we could all get together and fire the government? My husband thinks we should vote for the "other guy" every time no matter what his platform is until these people get the idea that they work for us! I think he must be high?

Mr Maher,
all the best to you from a Eastern European admirer of yours, who lives in L.A. I'm almost getting fed up off all the good old American bull, which gets even worse as the years go by. I'm already debating with myself of going back to good old savage Balkans, 'cause all that stuff you keep exposing here , really , really sucks and it starts to look like Bosnia and Bulgaria are not that much worse than California, except for the weather from November to March :)).

So anyway, my best wishes to you for being a pain in the you-know-what of all a**holes and bigots in the US and , please , don't be discouraged by the censorship and persecution they slap you with, keep the good job of running your mouth as bad as you can!!! I trust I'm just one of millions who support you... I hope a lot of people appreciate it , like I do, how hard it is for you to put up with all the crap, when you are in the cross-hairs , the way you are... So be strong and know that there are people who understand you and support you even if they were born under "communism" in the Balkans, but maybe we understand better the corporate/lobbyist totalitarism of today's America... Hopefully you'll be one of the people who'll awaken America for the future change , like the one we had in East Europe in 1989. Take care and keep your spirit high!

I think they should vote on a trial run of the public option. Pick three or four geographically and demographically diverse states. Make it available to a set number of people and have them rate the service during and after the trial period. This would give the government time to work out the kinks in the system and take away (hopefully) the fear factor (from the public) that still exists re: the PO. In addition, if the case study proves to be successful and cost effective Republicans would have a much harder time voting against expanding the public option and making it permanent.

Today I hear that King Ameoba has decreed the Newt to salvage Bush's "No Child Left Unmolested" program. If honest they would call it Newt's "Contract on America's Children", but they aren't, so they won't.

Statistically dramatically fewer households are having children, but the tax breaks for the Victims of Children are increasing. Share the punishment but not the orgasm, huh?

Hey Kids! Its official Banned Books Week! thats right, this is the week we as a nation review this year's attempts by the ignorant to pretend that THIS REALITY ISN'T HAPPENING.

Highlighted today is the best children's fiction from the UK since C.S. Lewis taught us about the joys of magic mushrooms. That's right, we're going to talk about that bewitching minx, Joanne Rowling!

Here's a dose of reality:
That famous mass murdering usurper Governor George W. Bush vetoed her award recognition on the grounds that she promotes sorcery.

While the state of Georgia prevented the ludicrous xians from banning fiction that exalted their 2000 year rampage, Massachussetts was not so enlightened.

What we have to do ya see, is round up all the weirdos & put them in mental institutions. Its just like having the children's table so the adults can be free for a while.

The law should not descend to the least common denominator, the least common denominator being the completely dependent imbecile. Anyone who argues for this is an idiot, or worse, one who seeks power in the form of excessive control.

Check it youselves:

Don't mind the delay, its probably just the real spooks.

Old people who played by the rules but then got fucked out of their pensions by some skinny creep named Vincent and have been taxed to subsidize the bottom line of insurance companies, taxed to pay for politicians 'aides' to get breast augmentation surgery - and abortions, and to pay the blackmailers of their 'representatives', taxed to raise other people's rotten unwanted kids, taxed to subsidize homeowners when they never owned a hme themselves, should make one last stand and go kill their oppressors.

What's the worst that can happen to them? Death penalty? KIA? They are already old, on death's doorstep. The alternative is 3 hots & a cot, which beats socialist security.

I'm fed up with this lame 'death camp' mantra. Obviously if the Democrats actually want to kill old people they would give them unlimited access to prescription drugs and let them fade away in bliss, at their own hands.

So there I was today just trying to run a few errands and when I stopped at a red light I saw all these crazy white people picketing against Obama/health care/etc...and I was so scared I locked my doors. I live in a suburban area of Philadelphia, and they were everywhere today! I had seen the protests on TV, but thought for some reason I was safe, but there it was, in my own backyard. Then this one old fart in the car next to me was so excited, honking and cheering them on that he pulled out into oncoming traffic and almost caused an accident. It was horrible! And, let me guess, I bet now they're all at Micky D's pigging out on greasy burgers and washing down their medley of medications with milkshakes proud as punch of themselves, bragging to each other about what a good thing they did today, this world is a freaking joke, Mr. Maher, can you please clone yourself and spread them around? Bill Maher,
You're a great man, but can't you ever Not target fat people and what they eat? Would it kill you to have a little compassion?
You write:

"I found out something interesting researching last week's editorial on how we should be taxing the unhealthy things Americans put into their bodies, like sodas and junk foods and gerbils. Did you know that we eat the same high-fat, high-carb, sugar-laden shit that's served in prisons and in religious cults to keep the subjects in a zombie-like state of lethargic compliance?"

Oh, fine, so That's the problem! That's why government can't get anything done! What about all the religious nuts who probably eat as good as you do? Of course, I know you like PETA, the very same people who had the deeply offensive "Save the Whales" billboard showing a fat woman in a bathing suit, until they were made to take it down.

So ironic, these are people who really Do want to save the whales (but humans? Especially Fat humans.....um, Not So Much), who used a term, "whales" in a derogatory sense to inflict harm on people they are presuming to try to "save".

People like you, who are so down on meat, are just as irrational as anyone else. I guess people Need to have a religion of Some Sort: yours appears to be food proselytizing.

When even our so-called healthy food is so deeply compromised, I think you'd do better to hone your message a little more precisely: leave all the fat people alone (many of whom are probably fans of yours) and start talking about Why our meat, dairy and fish are filled with toxins.

Of course, you Can't do that, unless you accept the reality that a healthy diet does not automatically equate to Never eating sweets or Never eating meat.

I like meat. I like you. Deal with it. I, personally, find it difficult to deal with your food rants; guess I'll have to take the good w/the more ill informed.

Whenever I hear people like you rant on about all the "shit" food, I want to head to the nearest twinkie stand and fill up.

I guess it's akin to non-religious people hearing some fire-n-brimstone preacher rail against sex, flailing his hands, spittle flying up into his wild-eyed stare, as he nails everyone to the spot with invective - as soon as possible, they want to go to the local sex shop or, at the very least, wank off like mad.

I know you just mean well and are trying to save our lazy, fat asses from ourselves...just like preacher man means well....

Bill, regarding your question on last weeks show, what would you rather have; an Iran with nuclear weapons or a war with Iran? I have another questions for you. What would you rather have an America that is totally bankrupt which will be the case if it fights a war with Iran, or an Iran with nuclear energy?

One of the smartest military moves made by the USA in the past 30 years was its response to when Saddam Hussein and Iraq invade Kuwait. George Bush Senior lined up the military forces of about 20 countries on Iraqs coast and told Saddam to get his arse out of Kuwait.

Obama has to do the same thing with Iran if it does not toe the line and he should use the members of the G20 to do this.
Personally I think the G20 should replace the permanent members of the UN security council.

Also, how about making every countries that has nuclear weapons agree to IAEA inspections, including India and the USA. Lets have the USA lead by example and request that India does the same.

We want China to have transparency, well lets all have transparency including the USA.

Bill, your comment regarding making cars use less oil - what do we want - a small improvement, when do we want it - 2016.

In Australia there is steady mass movement by the people to convert existing cars to being EVs. Canberra, our national capital, will have an EV infrastructure by 2011. But the people are not waiting for the government, we are getting off our collective butts and changing our existing cars over now.

Governments come out with long range policies to let people, and industries know where they are headed. Most of the movers and shakers in an industry move early, which is why the Japanese are now the worlds number one makers of cars despite the fact that the Chinese openly prefer 'europeans' (this would include American) products.

Health care

The USA is not trying to invent something NEW here. It just has to look around at every other OECD country and see what works and what doesn't.

In Oz we have a national health care system funded by taxation that gives everyone a reasonable level of care. People can have private health care if they want to which gives them a private room in a hospital etc. The national systems pays for part of the costs if people have private health insurance which makes it cheaper to afford.

Warning over global oil 'decline'
By Sarah Mukherjee
Environment correspondent, BBC News

The report warns the situation will be "extremely challenging"
There is a "significant risk" that global production of conventional oil could "peak" and decline by 2020, a report has warned.

The UK Energy Research Centre study says there is a consensus that the era of cheap oil is at an end.

But it warns that most governments, including the UK's, exhibit little concern about oil depletion.

The report's authors also state that the 10 largest oil producing fields in the world are all in decline.

Aussie,

the scare tactic of saying we are running out of oil (and other natural resources) has a long and erroneous history. Guess what, hydrocarbons are not the by-product of dead animal/plant life. Telescopes recently discovered vast areas of space made up of hydrocarbon clouds. Titan has seas of liquid methane and ethane to boot!

The last I heard, life cannot exist in the vacuum of space, and NASA says life never existed on Titan.

Dean Jackson said...

In 2008 NORAD wrote, "Since the tragic events of 9/11, NORADs role which previously was outward-looking now includes monitoring airspace within North America."

In 2004 the Air Force said, "Before 2001, 1st Air Force was charged with keeping an eye on the nation’s borders, usually looking for threats in the form of Russian aircraft skirting too close for comfort to the mainland. In those few hours, the command’s mission went from looking outward to looking inward."

Now take a look at what the National Guard Association of the United States, Canada’s Department of National Defense, Syracuse University, NORAD, and the General Accountability Office said before September 11, 2001 about NORAD’s monitoring capabilities within the United States:

In 1997 the National Guard Association of the United States said NORAD insures, "Aircraft flying over our air space are monitored seven days a week, 24 hours a day." – National Guard Association of the United States, 1997.

In 1998 Canada’s Department of National Defense said, "In 1998, Canada posses the ability to detect, identify, and if necessary intercept aircraft over Canadian territory. The "Canadianisation" of NORAD operations over Canada is complete. Though we still rely heavily on the Americans for the Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment and mutual defense, we have successfully transitioned on at least one of the three core functions of NORAD.” – Department of National Defense (Canada), 1998.

Before 1995, Syracuse University said, "The NORAD mission is threefold. NORAD's first responsibility is to provide SURVEILLANCE AND CONTROL of the airspace covering North America, specifically the airspace of Canada and the United States.” -- Northeast Parallel Architectures Center, Syracuse University, pre-1995.

In 1997, NORAD itself said, "The Air Operations Center (AOC) (also known as the Air Defense Operations Center – ADOC) maintains CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE OF NORTH AMERICAN AIRSPACE TO PREVENT OVERFLIGHT by hostile aircraft. It TRACKS over 2.5 million aircraft annually." – NORAD, 1997.

And lastly, in 1994 the General Accountability Office said, "NORAD defines air sovereignty as providing surveillance and control of the territorial airspace, which includes:

1. intercepting and destroying uncontrollable air objects;
2. tracking hijacked aircraft;
3. assisting aircraft in distress;
4. escorting Communist civil aircraft; and
5. intercepting suspect aircraft, including counterdrug operations and peacetime military intercepts." -- Government Accountability Office, 1994.

Now are you beginning to understand what George Orwell meant by “down the memory hole” in his novel 1984?

Pass this proof of the government lying about 9/11 to those who are either hostile to 9/11 Truth or aren’t sure what to think about the 9/11 Truth Movement.

Also,

I believe that George W. Bush was never the lawfully elected President.

Al Gore betrayed America when he did not stand up against the Bush election fraud conspiracy in Florida and elsewhere.

You see hope Diebold quietly closed their voting machine division? Yet these traitors are now deeply entrenched in ATMs. Bank on that.

Al's equally lame wife did all she could to overturn the 1st ammendment in the 80s. She wants rating labels on music so parents who aren't paying enough attention to their brood can slide farther, at the expense of all American's liberties? What the fuck was she thinking? Anyway we can see what great smart parents they are in their kids. The sins of the parents, etc. You can tattoo Harvard on a pig, its still a pig.

Had Al Gore any leadership qualities at all 9/11 would never have happened and neither would the last 8 years of devastation. Since he obviously has no spine, it wouldn't have made that much difference that W stole the election twice. Right now the problem is that Obama is not repealing the decidership powers the W administration seized; this is a major problem.

Terrorist Industrial Complex! If General Powell had run with McCain, we would be calling McCain president today. The same criminal elites who ran the country for the Bush, Reagan and Nixon years are the ones who want Princess Palin to be president, for the same reason they wanted George Dumble U. These are the same group who killed JFK, MLK & RFK, they hve no regard for anyone but themselves.

The power elites killed JFK to stop him from eliminating the Federal Reserve? Fucking A right, brother! That and he was planning to shut down the CIA after the Bay of Pigs, nobel criminals that they are.

Dear Bill Maher,
For some time now, I’ve watched you trying to get “Muggles” (to quote your favorite book, Harry Potter) to agree with you that processed food is making us sick and that doctors are impeding the cure. As a three-time breast cancer survivor who learned the hard way, I agree with you 100% about everything from the dangers of vaccinations (we did not vaccinate our fifteen year old daughter) to that of mercury in fillings (my daughter has never had a cavity). However, I am in the wee minority.
If you want to convince the majority, I suggest you stop going to the hardware store for oranges and get someone like Gary Null on your show, and maybe show a clip from his film, Vaccine Nation. You might also want to check out the Natural Immunization Information Network (NIIN). Even doctors like Deepak Chopra or Andrew Weill, while more mainstream, would give you better answers than what you’ve been getting from your guests. (I mean did you really expect Lisa Jackson or Chris Matthews to agree with you?)
On the positive side, I thought you’d like to know that your Snuggies spoofs have resulted in their putting out a new commercial showing Snuggie-wearers being more active – wearing their Snuggies while camping and going to the movies – and being more socially interactive so that you no longer see a lone Snuggie-wearer sitting on his couch but rather hordes of them mingling in a very upbeat fashion. Maybe this will inspire Snuggie-wearers to unite and form their version of The Red Hat Club.
Keep fighting the good fight! Yours is the only show I make an effort to watch with any regularity. (Although could you ease up on the believer-bashing? Not all people who believe in God are religious crackpots.)
