Country First

Whenever we do an editorial chastising America for not living up to its potential, there are complaints. Complaints that I blame America first. Which is silly - I'm not "blaming" America in any particular order. I'm simply of the belief that nothing gets better until you see the problem for what it really is. Republicans have become the party of red, white and blue rose colored glasses. By drowning out criticism with USA! USA!, they prevent this country from healing itself where it needs healing, and that is the opposite of Country First. For those who disapproved of Friday's editorial about Europe and America, here are two others of similar ilk to choke on :)

Bill, I agree with you on virtually every issue I've heard you discuss, but I just came across a video on youtube of your standup and was a little bit shocked. It's one where you talk about feminism and how America has become overly feminized. First of all, sensitivity, feelings and commitment are exclusively feminine. It's arguments like that that keep people from treating women equally because they're seen as overly emotional - which is bullshit. Second, the male impetus to spread his seed? Wake the fuck up. WOMEN GET JUST AS HORNY AS MEN.

Are not exclusively feminine*

What is it about you women?

Is it your hair your hips,
your butt your legs or lips,
is it your walk or your eyes,
your cheekbones or your thighs,
is it your charm or your smile,
with which you ruled the Nile.

Just what is it about you women?

Could it be that with your looks,
and a mind that is so keen,
you are the most dangerous weapon,
that the world has ever seen.

Or is it the fact that with your womb,
as science must surely embrace,
you hold the very lock,
on survival of the human race.

Or might it be your inner strength,
your dedication to the quest,
of tearing down the man-made walls,
that make you second best.

Mrs. Smith or Mrs. Jones,
that's all you’re here to be,
a housewife or a mother,
no self-identity.

You ask God why why is life so unfair,
and you want so badly to hear Her,
but you knew the score the day you were born,
naked without your vanity mirror.

For the world's but a stage and spotlights on you,
from your nails to your manicured teeth,
wooing us all in your designer suit,
that hides the real you underneath.

So go ahead girl with your bad little self,
indulge in your own fantasies,
for though it is you who holds mankind's lock,
it is I, man, who holds the key.

Surely you can appreciate an energy alternative that is non-polluting and green?

The combustion engine is obsolete by technology standards, but big industry chooses to roll out band aid solutions like hybrids.

That's not really a solution, and even though its easy to understand that the combustion engine is such are large cash cow to walk away from, at what price do we pay for something that needs attention now?

When all the glaciers melt, sea levels rise, and life becomes unbearable below the 49th parallel?

There may be an idea to explore called "Project Unity", and hopefully this message reaches a couple people that think it's worth a look. http://www.gravitycontrol.org

I am a Canadian citizen and I ABSOLUTELY believe that "country" should be first. In fact it's even more important that if they are an immigrant from another country, that they put the country that they NOW live in, the country that adopted them, the country that they use the resources of, as the first priority, above a land they chose to leave, for whatever the reason. I am tired of fake citizens that are let in to the WEST by our naive administrator who believe all their sob stories, most of which are BS. Recently in both US and Canada the Tamil community have been actively protesting, doing propaganda work to stop a war in Sri Lanka. They are wasting the time, money and energy of our countries, to influence the policy makers who have far pressing issues like the economy to worry about, to put pressure on the SL government. I wonder if any of these so called citizens of our countries took to street when Iraq and Afghanistan was bombed. Did they protest and support our soldiers who frequently loose their lives fighting someone else's war. Did they shed one tear or support any of their families well being. If so why not? Are these Tamils not Citizens of US and Canada?

Finally I admit that I am also a Canadian of Sri Lankan origin (not Tamil), who for the longest time stayed away from commenting or supporting the war that goes on in Sri Lanka, as I believed my loyalties, should lie first with Canada, where my children was born. However after listening to all the garbage and false propaganda that goes around to discredit Sri Lanka to the west, I had no choice but to start a blog to counter these allegations. The goal of this site is not to fight the Tamils, find whose right, wrong or responsible, but to better educate the people of the west of these hypocrisies of terrorists hiding as fake citizens. Speaking of hypocrisy, I am sure you will have a laugh at this.

Recently the west (US, UK & Canada) who have invaded/occupied other countries like Afghanistan and Iran, has told the SL government who is fighting to protect their land from a bunch of terrorists, that they (the west) are concerned about the safety of the civilians getting killed? Is it me or do you see the hypocrisy in that statement? Isn't it a double standard when they tell Sri Lanka that it's okay for them to bully other nations but not okay for SL to police their OWN nation? Of course we should be concerned about inocent civilians getting killed in any part of the world, but where was this concern when they (the west) bombed the bajeezas out of the Iraq and Afhan killing over 100k civilians????

I do not want to right everything about the cause of this war as you may be aware and if not please go to the blog I moderate. (http://sandeshaya-canada.blog.com). Frankly I doubt if this gets your attention as Sri Lanka is not even in US's radar, have no OIL, or any worth to US... BUT I believe you care about your country and how it is perceived by the rest of the world.

Please check these two links which clearly shows the hypocrisy of the west.

Hi Bill!

Thanks for what you said about the French. I happen to have been born there and I have often been surprised how okay it is to deride us and our culture. Even though there are many things France has done that I am definitely not proud of, these are usually not the things we get picked on for... I also wanted to thank you for always having stayed true to your opinions even in the face of outright fascism. Keep it up!

You are a very important voice in this country. I commend you for last night's (March 6 2009) statement about the importance of government. As a legal immigrant to this country, let me add that I AM TIRED AND ENRAGED of hearing, as did one of your guests last night, that people want to come here to make money, to be entrepreneurs.
Let me tell you something: I, like tens of thousands of other legal immigrants, have come to the United States because we believe IN GOVERNMENT. In living in a country where government ensures rule of law, where my taxes are visible in road work and education, where I know I cannot be kidnapped by guerrillas. I believe in government that imposes checks and balance not only on the political process but on economic behavior as well. The eight years under Bush have come close to turning the USA into a Latin American country-a place where predatory elites rule, there is no government accountability and if you aren't filthy rich, forget about accessing a remotely decent education. I was fortunate to grow up in an upper middle class home and to receive all that...but I did not want to continue living in such a society.

GOVERNMENT ALL THE WAY....TAXES ARE PATRIOTIC

...and my sensors indicate…

...the reason that Madoff was not exposed in 2000 was because there was a lot of Middle East & oil company interests at stake...

...and so the oil companies & Wall Street teamed up with Dick Cheney & Carl Rove to mastermind a war to take over Middle Eastern oil control to build up Madoff & other’s emptied ponzi coffers...

...while buying keeping President Bush occupied in another room with the occasional purchase of a new coloring book...

...but the plan backfired when Iraq could not be taken over as they hoped...

...thus the resulting debacle is afoot in America as now Wall Street & the Republicans are admitting American bankruptcy...

...only now as they can put the blame on the black Democratic President for a collapse that was not only covered up but exacerbated by the Bush Administration and Republican Misery Machine...

...and this is why the SEC did not go public in 2000 or until now...

I'm not sure how accurate your Madoff theory is. The fact is, nobody knows. Except for a few individuals. I don't think we'll ever know for sure. It certainly seems as though there is some sort of cover-up going on with these plea negotiations. Plea negotiations are generally closed door, back office as opposed to open court. So, it is taking on a bad odor.

Mr Maher,

I enjoyed your interview with "Boonie". But you didn't mention that he advocates using natural gas. Natural gas may originate here in the US and it burns "cleaner" than gasoline but, it is still a fossil fuel. Wind energy will never replace liquid, transportable fuels. And neither will NG because eventually, it WILL run out. Why isn't he advocating bio-fuels such as biodiesel? Is it because it will cut into the soybean supply? NO it won't.

Its time people stop blaming America and look a little closer to home thats right themselves. Its about people start blaming all their problems on the country and stop being so damned selfish. The last 8 years has been about the I Generation. Its about selfishness and the fact everyone else is the problem. If you really want someone to blame for Americas problems try your attitude. Start with yourself and what you can do to help the situation. How you can get together with your neighbourhood instead of building some fortress and seeing your neighbours as you go to get the morning paper and thats the extent of it. Everyone thought they were some sort of millionaire because of their home equity well now reality hits home get off your but and pitch in. Start seeing what you can do to get together with your community. So at the end of the day if your using America as an excuse then you are not only looking in the wrong place you really havent realized the problem at all and guess what your part of it.

mike m said...

We are the people, we are America, we are the problem! We need to fix it! NOW!!!

Bill,
You're guest Mr. Booker was talking about people, who have ideas for new products, services, etc. I guess he was referring to future entrepreneurs. The problem is - when someone does have a good, marketable idea, it's immediately bought by some corporate entity. That's the American Dream. Having your idea bought by a big corporation, spending all the money, like lottery winners, and having very little to show for it at the end of 5 years. By the way, who invented The Snuggie? The ifart? Is that the American ingenuity that made this country great?

The Corporate system of business has outlived it's usefulness. Yes, it did help to clothe, feed and house a nation. But it has grown into a giant beast that will eventually begin to eat itself. (Actually, it already has begun)

"I was there when the bear ate his head and thought it was a candy"

But WE are the Corporation. Us, all of us. We work for the corporation, we buy from the corporation, we shit for the corporation, we even vote based on the corporation. Let's break up these giant beasts, tear them down, and start doing things the way they should be done and stop playing games with the future of this country.

The Little Three

With all the money Washington is handing out these days, do you wonder where that money is actually going? Of course, we all are.
I saw the big three automakers getting 15 billion each! Then they came back to ask for more!
Well, there are three other automakers. They are called: Tesla, Aptera, and Zap.
Now I ask; what if we gave these "Little Three" 1 billion each?
Ya see, these guys have something that is missing in both Detroit and Wall St. Entrepreneurial spirit. I suppose that may be arguable, and I'd like to be proven wrong, but I don't think I am.
So, let's give the little three a shot and watch real entrepreneurs really doing something for the country.

The Lie Is Falling, Pt. 1
Translated from pseudo by Grid Loc

Once upon a time there was a big, fat slob named Lush Limbo. One day Lush Limbo was shooting Oxycontin in the psych ward when a book fell on his head.

"Oh, Christ" howled Lush Limbo, "the sky is falling. I must go tell someone."

So Lush Limbo ran and ran, and he ran into Janine Garafolo.

"What are you running for you out of shape piece of didicus? You trying to off yourself?" asked Janine Garafolo.

"Ah, ah, ah, Why are you wearing the Wonder Woman outfit?" Lush Limbo panted.

"Because this is your drug induced fantasy you pond slime." said Janine Garofalo.

"Now you are going to fess up." she said, bringing out her golden lasso.

"Oh shit" groaned Lush Limbo, as Janine lassoed him. "Not that. Please... no... don't... stop. Oh Janine, do you want to walk me with a leash & collar?"

"No you creep, I want you to tell me what you and the Republican Party are scheming." said Janine Garafolo, looking alot like Wonder Woman.

"N-nothing that I know of. Is there really such a thing as a female orgasm?" gulped Lush Limbo. Under the influence of the golden lasso, criminals can not lie. Janine leashed him to a tree; he seemed quite happy this way. "Not that I really care" Lush Limbo cried, as Janine Garafolo turned to leave. She did not answer. She was eager to try out the invisible jet, before the fatass woke up.

Sure, the republicans have a plan.
1. Create a media hissy fit in order to distract from the actions the OB admin is taking.
2. Create fake media issues distracting from the logical reasons for these actions and substitute uncertainty for decisive action.
3. Throw obstacles at the OB administration to cause them to fail or at least derail their focus.
- just like the sabotage of the Cuban economy;
- just like the sabotage of USSR economy;

So what I want to know is this: If there are only a token force in IQ & AG, on what did the administration spend the 22 trillion dollars they appropriated?

Did the 2 trillion W had the Federal Reserve print go to prop up the failed banking institutions, saving up the stink like a frat prank for the next president?

Does anyone still question whether the Diebolt voting machines were used to fix the 2004 elections?

Here's what's wrong with this country today: 28 years of Reaganomics. 28 years in the firm belief that perception is reality. 28 years going on the Atwater notion that if they can afford to say it, or they can somehow get it printed 3 times and the Democrats can only afford to say it once, they're telling the truth and the Democrats are lying. The Republicans have ripped this country's head off, and now they're shitting in the hole...for the sport of it.

Bill, it's a shame Real Time airs when only the choir is awake. Let's try a 10 am NBC slot. Our elected Republicans are putting their own agendas before country. The grandstanding gauntlet throw down is creating problems, solving none. How about offering new ideas if they don't like Obama's? And why didn't they grade Bush every five minutes? Does his wife even have arms? Bush's bad ideas were good because he rode in on the white evangelical, vote buying elephant. We need left/right balance. Racism and LimpBalls must go. Our right is stuck on stubborn, refusing to learn yesterday's lessons. Voters have created stupidity's reign.

We just rented Religulous and plan to watch tonight. Will you think about a new doc? "Educatioulus" You're a fair minded, bright man and we know your views are based on your best research abilities. On teachers and their union, information might be missing. A new teacher makes 10 dollars an hour. Most never make more than 40 grand. Most spend their own money on classroom supplies. Students bring their empty stomachs and abused bones to school when they have the gumption to get there. Children are mugged, raped, and shot at while walking to school. Parents are in prison, hooked on drugs, or so busy accumulating wealth, they aren't caring for their kids. Teachers face angry, distrusting, hopeless students bearing guns, knives, and other physical threats... Administrations that don't hold their staff accountable, and parents who sue over disciplinary action because their angel would never deal drugs or punch a teacher in the face. Truth is, some kids are their parents mules selling out of their locker pharmacies and 5th graders are having sex in class. Bad teachers should be fired but education starts at home where our teachers have no control. The union can't identify and fire bad teachers if the school administrations don't have measuring systems in place and many do not. Please do more research and teacher interviewing before railing so hard against their union. Teachers are screwed even with the union. I'd hate to see where they'd be without it. Change and break are not the same.
We appreciate your time.
Take care,
Becca

Becca, what you have described is an unfortunate circumstance of covertly declaired class war. Now since the top 5% are outnumbered by the bottom 75% (with the 20% under the ruling class typically siding with those on top out of a naive sense of moving on up for their loyalty and class anxiety), the media propaganda often pits working classes against eachother such as the illegal aliens decreasing property value or Chinese are stealing our jobs crap. Teachers don't make enough because thats how the system wants to keep people down, one only has to look at the history of the Ludlow massacre to see how the ruling classes actually feel about workers rights. Thats right, people fighting for fair conditions getting shot at by police the Rockefellers hired.

I was at Macy's the other day and a Lacoste T-shirt cost $80.00, not that I have a problem with the price however it was made in Costa Rica! The shirts are plain colored with an alligator on them. Someone in Costa Rica is handmaking over 100 of these $80.00 shirts a day yet the people who do the actual work see a very, very small % of the profit while the executives who do nothing see the bulk of the profits. Thats just one example among many, if they want to outsource jobs please don't give me the tired old "To lower prices" excuse since Costa Rican and Vietnamese sweatshops are making shirts that are $80.00 and up per 1 shirt. The principle also applies to metal, auto and other industries as well.

I showed Ellen Brown and her e-conomists Corey’s comment about Newark’s experimental bank; she loves it. She mentioned lunching with Michelle Obama’s friend. The concept of public banks functioning alongside private ones is well suited at the city and state level, where so much can be accomplished without sidetracking Obama’s courtship with The Establishment. He seems in line with this train of thought as he’s conveniently letting states decide what to do with their potheads. Speaking of which, did you get a chance to smoke some Great White North from Alberta’s venerable institution, the Ganga Bank?

It’s entertaining to watch the Obama Boys fondle America the Beautiful, every day massaging her tootsies in a new way. In light of how adroitly they orchestrated the media during the campaign, I’m surprised it even took this long to activate the smooth spin cycle. And wow, the economy is coming clean! Hillary worked on China, which announced a 14% increase in defense spending, boosting the Dow last week, at least for a day. China couldn’t keep it up though, and the Dow fell flat the next day over doubts about America's dominatrix-cum-slave relationship with the Chinese. CNBC hosted Warren Buffet for a three hour seminar on the economy. That coincided with a turn in the tide. The administration had to hush Nancy Pelosi, who scared everybody over some second stimulus. Thankfully the Limbaugh side show was distracting enough that the media didn’t super scrutinize her boo-boo into a calamitous Downer. Oh, and how about the miraculous internal scroll circulated you-know-where about January and February being profitable? All it takes is an email memo to send us flying to the moon? Obama proceeded to ace it with a ‘spot on’ Business Round Table question and answer session. An industry captain said he sounded like Bill Gates. You’ve got to admit, he sells well to these folks, making it sound like good business to factor in the American worker. Overall things are looking good… now if only Tim Geithner could reshape his eyebrows so we aren’t reminded of Beavis each time he flunks another audition.

She would probably have your house under siege. Did she have Hef bring out the portable hyperbaric oxygen therapy tent? Imagine what she would of said if she saw you with your shoes on Howard Bloom’s bed. Even I thought that wouldn’t be something you’d do on the beds of people you know, famous people. Great interview, though, your expression was priceless as he described the roasting skin.

In Religulous it was fun to see you wreak havoc across the psyches of your interview subjects. I’m sure you cast a doubt in those convicts’ minds. Ah, the bittersweet taste of freedom. There was one particularly interesting segment with the man who channels Maitreya. I think he is really onto something, but Maitreya is not who he thinks, rather some dude from the corner diner who has the hots for him but can’t bring himself to the guy’s doorbell.

Imagine this: the twinkle was verifiably present when Sarah talked about how bad one can get by fingerbating… the right way. In light of everything she has to offer and her emerging sensitivities, it sounds like she might even be assisted in her quest for pleasure; an unintentional hostess, so to speak. A visit to Bobby Jindal may be just the thing (although there’s nothing more banal than masturbating the wrong way). Could this be an emerging trend? It probably will never surface, but some incubus style manipulators may be more obvious than others. Next thought bubble: in the 2004 Indonesian tsunami, model Petra Nemcova was honeymooning when she was swept away, suffered a shattered pelvis, yet survived by clinging to a tree for eight excruciating hours while her new hubby drowned, of course. Wouldn’t a jealous Asian devil-boy fit right into this picture?

At least you can get your mind blown.

How will the aryan brotherhood greet Bernie? I give him 6 months tops, probably less than 3 unless he buys his way out.

Pity he doesn't have more time.

I think the republican politicians (and Fox) have a conflict of interest. They have already sold the Obama administration short. Their careers will be ruined when we succeed.

Your guest who plugged Ayn Rand didn't substantiate his point. Allow me to correct & complete his misguided insinuation:

Bill, why are you such a douche? I love your witty base dropping real intelligent dialogue, no doubt a bi-product of watching your show: comments like "Bill, you looked hot!". Amazing. You are right about France though, I mean who wants to live in America when there's France. Hell, I feel like a damn fool not even knowing a single word in French! Who wouldn't want to live in a socialist society where half of the GDP goes to pay for Welfare? What's that? Forgot to mention that to everyone? What a great model for us to follow William. Oh, and what about the fact that we have had to bail them out of numerous wars? Oh, that's right they "invented the tongue" I guess we owed them for that.
I love political satire. You can criticize all you want without ever having to make any real decisions for the country. What a luxury! I must be a "centrist" just like Mayor Cory Booker, huh? I love how you buttered him up in your introduction of him, stating how much you admired him, but as soon as he started trying to talk about real change and problem solving he became a centrist. What he should have done was deliver his diatribe then concluded it with something like "By the way, Bush is a moron!" He would have then gained credibility in your eyes and you wouldn't have gotten your panties in a wad. You are a supreme clown no wonder you chose comedy as a career field to go into. Also please quit pretending to be one of us that makes less than $250,000 dollars a year like your not someone who "deserves to redistribute some money". I would love to meet your accountant and see your financial statements, because I pretty sure you didn't pay as many taxes as you should of. But I guess we'll never know, huh?
Oh wait, I do know how to say something in French: Bill, vous êtes un con".

Greenday,

What are you some kind of idiot? I would give anything to be able to live in Paris. Who the fuck cares about welfare and GDP. It means nothing. The financial institutions, and huge corporations run the country. Most of them have proven that they can't be trusted. Too big to fail, bullshit, to big to function. Too big to be trusted. The government needs to control the corporations that have that big of a stake in the economy. Do you want me to make you a laundry list of the shit they did? And now republicans are saying we can't raise taxes on the wealthy? They've squandered the financial resources of this country, now they need to pay. Send them all to bed without dinner, while we eat cake!

Is Obama the hardest working man in show business? He doesn’t give us a chance to stay depressed, steadily motivating us several times a day. Yesterday on Leno he announced the government will be offering credit lines to small businesses outside of the banking system, as well as a securitized market for student and auto loans. He didn’t mention mortgages. Is this a roundabout way of approaching the public banking issue without stepping on the toes of the capitalist system? Of course the supposedly quick-to-react media didn’t pick up on this; just as well, the administration will spoon feed the news at its leisure.

When I heard this I realized the whole day’s celebration made that much more sense. I woke up feeling refreshed, plus a freshly fucked complexion.

I ran across this fun bit in an article by Lynn Snowden. ”When I have sex, I like it to be long and special. That’s why I could never get married; you can’t make sex an event every single day.”

There has to be a little time set aside for other things, like careers. Why not every single week… no, every few days?

Can you guys decide what hand to use when you wipe your ass, or are you still trying to decide? You have no idea what to do except say "Big Government", like that's supposed to scare me. Oh, please protect me from the big bad government. We need to be protected from companies like AIG, Citibank, Exxon/Mobil, Haliburton, HMOs and pharmaceuticals. I guess the government caused the market to lose over 50% of its value. I guess the government is responsible for 8% (and climbing)unemployment.

Really. I thought I asked a legitimate question which I didn't get an answer to. What is big government? You sure as shit sound like a Ron Paul Libertarian to me.

Perhaps you would like to tell me why, in all the shit that's going on, why isn't anyone talking about the underlying causes of what caused this mess? And don't even dare think about saying Fannie and Freddie. I'm talking about the securitization of mortgages and the 30:1 leveraging. Two things that have been deregulated in the past 10 years. But no one is talking about changing it back. Why?

Why not talk about the investment industry lobbyists who pushed it on the government. Do you believe lobbying and donating to campaigns is a First Amendment right?

Forget about the bonuses at AIG. I want to know who is getting the money from the credit default swap and CDO payoffs. And why should we bail them out. Shouldn't they have known better than to buy an insurance policy on a bond with no capital backing? It's the same argument as bailing out people who bought sub-prime mortgages.

And what about the rating agencies that gave CDOs AAA status?

Open my mind huh? My mind is open. And it amazes me that people are actually talking about less government regulation and lower taxes for the wealthy.

another nice one for all the Kool Aid drinkers who have bought into this idea that "everything is George Bush's fault"...

Wow! What a powerful (non-partisan) statement! I almost deleted this
before reading it. It sure will make you think... and think... and
think!! It's those 545 people who have thrown our country into a mess,
not just one man. This is good to read whichever PARTY you think you
belong to. It should make everyone consider their voting VERY
seriously. How did a media person ever write something like this?

545 People By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against
inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on
appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound
reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con game regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.

No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.

Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to. It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable
directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the
budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the
Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way. There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like 'the economy,' 'inflation' or 'politics' that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel
Newspaper.

However, it is also true the we, the citizens of this country,
reelect approximately 90% of the 545 every election. Therefore, we bear a great deal of the responsibility for the mess we have created.......

If our government really wanted to put our country first, we would be planting hemp on every hillside.

Have you read Jack Herer's book The Emperor Wears No Clothes? Jack should be a guest on your show.

Did you know: The King James bible was printed on hemp paper? The US flag was made of hemp fabric? That George Washington grew hemp on his plantation? That hemp can be made into biofuel to power the entire country, freeing us from foreign oil and air pollution (which would immediately begin to reverse global warming)? That cannabis is the best treatment for asthma and emphysema?

Our government is lying to us (shocking, I know), and it started with William Randolph Hearst and his yellow journalism, and DuPont with it's shiny new German patents surrendered after WWII? Marijuana is non-addictive, impossible to overdose on and often the best medicine for the job, from topical applications to ingested smoke.

Billl, it's time to step up the drum-banging and make sure Obama, and everyone else, knows about the incredible benefits of hemp/cannabis to all life on this planet! We really can't afford to wait any longer. Our planet is literally falling apart, and it's completely our fault - the United States' fault. We have been waging an all-out campaign of eradication world-wide for the last 70 years! We need some sanity speaking out against the lunatic policies being carried out in this country and abroad.

And I've decided you're the guy to do it! :D

Its interesting i was hearing about the conference of the Americas and how yes the US wants to bring in all the American nations. Then I hear commentary that once they are brought in they must change the way they are doing things. Maybe its the US that must change not the America's nations. I notice how much better that America is off then these nations. Im being facetious of course. Just look at the mess of your own country and then fix it first then you can try and fix problems in the America's but before then just get off the fact your going to fix the entire world and fix your own problems first. Quit proclaiming the US knows how to do things better and lets all get over this idea.

Besides the obvious alcohol and tobacco there’s guns, food, medicine, gambling/investing, useless junk from China... Fear of profound psychological change is what keeps psychotropic substances illegal.

Cannabis is a catalyst, opening minds by freeing those *millions of mirth microbes*. When it’s legalized, we can’t expect kids to sit through existing ‘straight’ curriculums. It’s all got to evolve, making room for dreaming, right up there with engineering. Space is the wrong direction to explore new frontiers. Legalizing weed will help point the arrow inward, where technology has a lot of catching up to do.

Greetings Bill,

Just caught your show tonight! I’m a huge fan and I just purchased my tickets to see you in Boulder next weekend. Your conversation about the environment tonight sparked my email …

I’m a graduate student studying atmospheric science, specifically atmospheric chemistry. I’m 23 years old, and the only thing I’d classify myself as politically is SANE. I live in a house in Boulder with 4 roommates; out of the five of us only two would consider themselves heterosexual. The last 10 weeks of my life I have spent in Barcelona, Spain, and Houston, Texas, measuring aerosol concentrations and looking at secondary aerosol production. Is there anyway I can get some of your time while you’re in Boulder? Specifically, I want to speak about the environment, my experience on four different field projects over the last 2 years looking at atmospheric pollution. From a study on SPI land in California, to a NASA aircraft study in Canada, a project for the European Union in Spain, and as we speak I’m in Houston looking at refinery and industry pollution, I have a lot to say, science to back it up, and a modern point to of view from a 20-something scientist in the thralls of her Ph.D. We need help Bill. I know you are aware. All I can offer is to share my experiences and hear what you have to say.

Let me know if there is anyway we can meet up while you’re in town.

Cheers,

Pakistan’s nukes are about to fall into the hands of the Taliban, but that’s not scary enough. A low flying jet escorted by fighter planes sparks panic in NYC as people evacuate buildings. The swine flu media assault is adamantly attempting to spread doom and gloom around the world. Our current news cycle is about freaking out. Society seems to require this occasionally to feed its bipolarity. We know there are deep chemical imbalances, this is the symptom.

It became quite clear that Iraqi insurgents were paid off to effectively secure the surge. What’s stopping us from doing the same in Pakistan?

The pharmaceutical lobby is still healthy. Shares of flu vaccine manufacturers Glaxosmithkline and Novavax are soaring.

And as for water boarding torture, a topic sure to quench tormented minds, nothing is worse than removing the water jet right before a great climax.

I couldnt agree more that it took Obama only a simple "Hi" to H.Chavez and they hit it off already. But isnt that what you call dancing?

What surprises me is how quick was it for the North Koreans to fire a missile weeks ago after Obama went to the Whitehouse last January.

Mr. Maher, its a common practice to test the waters for comfort. And thats what Chavez and perhaps Iran did.

Combining that with what the North Koreans did, and what do you get out of Mr. Obama?

How humiliating. It took Obama less than 100 days to at least make America notable again in the world stage. Yes, notable to be played around. Tell me, wheres the respect?

Well, it could be that respect is when you consider something for the weak. And that is exactly how we Americans are treated now.

But how about being feared. Forget about that. What is important now is that we dance because we feared.

You cannot say it otherwise because why else are we doing this now.

The only reason we abhor minds like George Bush is because whatever he DID NOT WORK. And now we are willing to just dance to any music out there, because we FEAR that its going to continue NOT TO WORK.

Fear not Pride. Gush.

Why do civilization always attains mastery over the world through the use of fear against its enemies and later on pretends to be virtuous and righteous only to bring down that greatness? We use to hold that pride. Now we succumb to diplomacy? Why lose what is great just to appease those who didn't like us?

I mean if I am starving and upset and swearing at you, would you be getting me a BigMac even if you knew I will kill you after?

The reason that I will eliminate you Mr. Maher is because I dont want you to be between me and the BigMac the next time I want it. Thats how it works in this world.

I don't think three dead Somali pirates makes us appear weak. How about three of the Fort Dix six terrorists being sentenced to life in prison yesterday? Does it make us appear weak that they weren't sentenced to death? Diplomacy is never a bad thing in itself. Was it weak when Nixon went to China? Was it weak when Reagan met with Gorbie? What makes us appear weak is that we made detainees wear women's panties on their heads.

Today Zbigniew Brzezinsky said for Pakistanis to deal with the Taliban we have to be prepared to pay, and not just with money. I hope he didn’t mean paying them off with arms, unless it’s Blu-ray technology. At some point we’ll finally get creative with these very confused, culture shocked Arabs.

Afterwards, Moron Joe Scarborough confidently affirmed swine flu comes from Mexico and the Caribbean. Untrue, we have no swine flu in the Caribbean. Sounds almost as stupid as Insert-Foot-Here Biden telling people to avoid public transportation. Republicans are directly to blame for swine flu, specifically Joe Luter III, owner of swine concentration camp Smithfield Farms. When we get swine flu vaccines that’ll be good old fashioned Republican ingenuity. Note that the vaccine for the 1978 pandemic killed 25 people. And why is the entire world allowing Mexicans to travel… to ease transmission? Luckily for whiteys the disease is only bad enough to warrant a course of antivirals. Understandably, Obama is fully co-operating with swine flu insanity. Now that the stock market is tamed he won’t let this stunt get in his way.

Down in the Caribbean we don’t give a fuck about the swine flu… nuh media caan psyche we. All this week we’re Jumping Up for Carnaval. We swine an’ go down.

This is s comment on the June 5, 2009 show. I usually consider Bill Maher's humor right on except for the beginning of the show (which is usually bizarre) It starts out addressing influencial white men offended by hispanic and black appointees, then ends up as a blonde joke--having nothing to do with white men.

I know the results of genetic experiments I am not supposed to know. The problem is the source is the scientifically most reliable man on the planet in the field of these tests. If you are stupid enough to peer into this truth, you will start things you won't know how to finish. But I can make your ratings sky rocket right past Uranus and out of the Klingon solar system. Fortunately for everyone, this comic mind is proving to be the most accurate in the field of science. If you are foolishly without fear, call me!
