QUOTES FROM “REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER
Following are quotables from “Real Time with Bill Maher” for Friday, October 8, 2010. “Real Time with Bill Maher” airs Fridays at 10:00PM ET (10:00PM PT, tape delayed) on HBO, with additional replays throughout the week on HBO and HBO 2.
What is it with conservatives? Seriously, I’m not trying to be partisan but it seems like if they’re anti-illegal alien, they have illegal aliens working for them. If they’re anti-gay, they turn out gay. If they’re super Christian, they’re a witch.
- Bill Maher in his opening monologue
She is behind and I don’t think it’s the witch stuff. I think it’s because of her anti-masturbating stance. She’s very serious about that and you know people in Delaware are going ‘come on, I live in Delaware, what else am I suppose to do?’
- Bill Maher in his opening monologue
You mess with Todd Palin, you could wake up with a horse’s ass in you bed, like he does everyday.
- Bill Maher in his opening monologue
There are thousands of myths in the world. None of them are better than any of the others. Some of them are a lot more poetic than that one, but that’s all you can say.
- Richard Dawkins regarding the Bible
There is no logical pathway that would lead you from Atheism to doing those terrible things. There is a logical pathway that would lead you, either from a Christian religion…or from one of the State religions like Nazism, like Stalinism and so on. You really can justify doing those awful things if you believe something as strongly as religious people do.
- Richard Dawkins
I spent 40 years as a writer and now I’m a “content provider” and content is free on the Internet. I’m supposed to like Al Gore for that? The Internet was invented by academics and military groups; by Commies and Fascists.
- P.J. O’Rourke
She came right out and said she’s not a witch. Has Hillary Clinton ever cleared that up?
- P.J. O’Rourke regarding Christine O’Donnell’s newest “I’m Not a Witch” campaign ad
Asinine. That is absolutely asinine…and to make a campaign ad entirely about it, absolutely stupid.
- S.E. Cupp regarding Christine O’Donnell’s newest “I’m Not a Witch” campaign ad
We conservatives believe government is bad and we’ve got the candidates to prove it.
- P.J. O’Rourke
He said he actually got involved with this with his teenage son, a ‘father and son bonding thing.’ I guess the Boy Scouts were all filled up.
- Joshua Green regarding Candidate Richard Iott (R-OH) being involved in a Nazi re-enactment group
How come a guy in a cave gets it better than every Republican voting for the Senate?
- Bill Maher on Bin Laden’s statement acknowledging global warming
New Rule: Don't keep the super glue next to your eye drops. An elderly woman in Phoenix was reaching for her cataract medicine and - yes, she super glued her eyes shut. And, after seeing what had happened, her husband of many years took the superglue and moved it next to the toothpaste.
- Bill Maher in his “New Rules” segment
New Rule: Now that Michael Vick is injured, and can't compete on Sundays, he must be put down.
- Bill Maher in his “New Rules” segment
This week's guests were Andrew Ross Sorkin, S.E. Cupp, P.J. O’Rourke, Josh Green and Richard Dawkins.

Dear Bill
You mentioned a great point regarding alternative energy on this episode and I simply can not believe the narrowmindeness of your conservative guests treating alternative energy like a "pie in the sky" hobby of the rich and trying to shut down your absolutely brilliant and correct view as an unachievable idea not worth attention.
You were absolutely right that alternative energy (and in my view specifically, solar) is the next big thing. Solar can save America by solving pretty much all major problems very quickly - there is simply nothing like the idea of making each home energy autonomous by putting a solar system on each roof - I have created a website about it www.HowToFixEconomy.us trying to get the word across.
I really hope you could dedicate a segment or full program to the idea that can easily change the world - we need to get the message out loud and clear that this is very doable very achievable, will not cost much but will generate wealth instead for society, mainly middle class, and will have enourmously positive impact almost immediately - I am tired of watching otherwise smart people like your guests simply not being open to the idea.
Thank you
Dmitriy
Bill how can you say that monkeys are less evolved than us? Imho they are ahead of us, as they are 100% impervious to religion. And bankers.
Plus they are polygamous & spend just about all their energy fucking & eating; got to admire their extremely efficient use of time. Most of us are lucky to spend 2% of our time having sex, and for most people, of that is accomplished without a friend.
Obviously Christine isn't doing it right...

Bill ... for those of us who are so quick to bash Republicans - is it not about time to point out some inconvenient truths occurring under Obama ... The most glaring is that as the country is sliding further into economic collapse he continues perpetual war - at punishing costs for the poor and enormous profits for a privileged few . . .
Dear Bill,
I've enjoyed P.J. since the Nat Lamp days, same as you have. He always seemed though like a better writer than an action figure on yours and all other shows. But that's OK, he usually managed to come up wit a quotable quote or two on your show. However, seeing him so totally wasted tonight was a big disappointment. Hey, I'm not asking for Charlie Rose interviews with everyone from the Algonquin round table, but you might've done better with any street bum with any opinion about anything. You did well in covering your friend's very incoherent and very, very unfunny quips, which threatened to derail the entire show. Your guests, too, were very kind, though perhaps more subdued than they'd have been without a drunken lout making egotistical, nonsensical, pronouncements from a well-fermented vacuum of non-ordinary reality.
I will always watch you show, it being my favorite (don't tell Jon Stewart}, but for the gods' sake, please, no more misbehavior like that from anyone, unless you're filming a PSA for MADD.
Thank you.

Hi Bill,
Always love your show, but last night with PJ O'Dourke was painful to watch. Everyone seemed uncomfortable and awkward with him. Can you not have him on again? Loved that Sorkin guy! SE Cupp was not too bad either, but please! stop with the Sarah Palin look. Have Richard Dawkins on monthly...what a brain!
Keep up the good work.
Sorry to say that I wasn't very impressed by what Richard Dawkins had to say ... He seemed unduly perturbed that two young Muslim girls didn't know that fresh & salt water were miscible . I would suggest that their footprints on our planet are totally neglible when compared to that of a U.S. aircraft carrier - given the amount of resources allocated to it and its concomittant impacts on our global envoronment & societies everywhere ... He really ought to be aiming his arrows where the damage to our planet is really coming from ... And , I would suggest - that if he were to visit a classroom in the USA , he would probably find that young American girls didn't know that salt & fresh water were miscible either . . .

hola, soy de peru, acabo de ver religulos, como es posible que no hayas incluido a los maradonianos en tu documental? los argentinos te van a odiar jajaja
Great show, I'm a long time huge fan however...comma...the mixture of P.J., the lame 'Rules' and weak point/counterpoint was close to jumping the shark.
You're an atheist! O.k. I get it! Stop preaching about it like a...ummm...religious nut.
And finally...I'm small town Midwest, but I still read books, read the news everyday (and no; not FOX), don't think the President is a Muslim, etc., etc. I bring this up because I keep hearing that "Yes...rednecks are stupid blah blah they shouldn't vote". Talk about sounding elitist! You sound like you're a comment away from getting coffee enemas and wearing Liberace outfits.
But hey...still a fan.
I'm a big fan of yours and have been for years. I'm 30 now, but i remember watching Politically Incorrect growing up. I'm thankful that you have such great insights and views on so many controversial topics.
I just watched this week's show. I only have one thing I wanted to share with you about humans flinging poo. They have and they're not just the psyche patients of the world.
I'm sure you've heard of GG Allin and I really hoped you'd mention him in that part of the conversation. I know, he was certifiable and probably a bit less evolved than the rest of us, okay, a lot less evolved, but it would've been pretty funny to bring his name into that discussion.
Keep doing what you're doing!
Bill, love your show, but sometimes (too often) the choice of guests ruin it! e.g., PJ O'Rourke (sad, irrelevant, unfunny drunk who can't shut up) and that ditzy airhead chick next to him. I'd seen that "woman" before and she totally sucked then too.
But when you DO have the right sort of guests, the show is sublime, it rocks - and we all love you for it. So let's work on that part of it, pleeeeeease!
Just to add to above... by "the right people" to get on your show, I simply mean SMART people, really smart people. Perhaps there was a time when O'Rourke was one of those people, but if so, he's obviously a sorry has-been now. He's death to a show like yours. And that ditzy broad... why? Because she looks "good" (in a fake plasticy sort of way)? I lost some IQ points watching this time - the only good part was you, Bill, but the rest was a waste of time because of a lame panel. I'm just saying what a lot of other people are thinking. We all look to you as one of the few great things going on in the media today.
S.E. CUPP said "Asinine. That is absolutely asinine…and to make a campaign ad entirely about it, absolutely stupid."
And, yeah, that got applause, but cheap applause. D'uh! ANYone could've come up with that kind of response to O'Donnel's ad. Just pandering for cheap applause. PLEASE don't have that sort of vapid fake-intellectual on anymore.
Hey, Bill, you know, I'm pretty much "atheist" too, but the fact remains that just as, logically speaking, we can't "know" there's a god or whatever, we also can't "know" there isn't. Dawkins almost seems to have a mental block in this respect, a sort of overreaction to the other extreme, and I would have liked to have seen you call him on it, rather than cater to the political correctness of Dawkins's own world.
Gee, it appears the electrodelic psychostimulizor on the cable box isn't pick up the signal... again. TV is the state of the art in mass mind control. Full of sound & fury indeed...
High, PJ! Agree with you on most everything. The only way out is a weaker central government & autonomous federation of states, otherwise its back to totalitarian globalism like the Holy Roman Empire or caliphate, this time w/o competition. If we go there, I'm a pirate too Bill. R! And so are you.

Bill,
Scan "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel with an open mind and le us know what you think. It requires believing in some supernatural things but when faced with the facts there really is no other alternative or explanation for what happened.
Bill Thanks for looking at Prop 19 and publicly giving your opinion. I hope you are right, and they aren't going to exploit our hopes for peace & freedom this time, and deceive us like they have every time on every single issue.
Bill ... just read that Israel approved a Jewish loyalty oath - that is a law that requires non-Jewish settlers to swear loyalty to the Jewish religion ... Sooo , Bill , if you want to live in Israel , you will have to accept & swear loyalty to the Jewish religion & , therefore , its God - no matter what you believe ... Maybe America could follow suit ...

PS: LOVED THE SHOW, as always
Dear Mr. Bill Maher.
Please tell all people that every religion teaches about hate as a normal and right behaviour. Every religion hates gays and lesbians, woman, “coloured“, atheists and animals... That’s why we blame religious hierarchs and their followers for creating all moral, ethical and human relations problems.
All religions as highly dangerous to entire nations should be illegalised and prohibited.
Note that every single human is born as an atheist (non believer) and then religious indoctrination done by Parents, Schools and Churches washes the brains, creating all evil people and not acceptable norms of behaviour, lack of logical thinking ability and bad personal characters.
It is time to realise that every religion was created by few smart leaders to manipulate naive and uneducated crowds and for centuries of parasitism, idleness used for their own prosperity, power and authority . It is time to realise that every religion wants their followers to believe in storybook stories full of bloody legends, scary horrors and lies...
Latest news about "gay hate gangs" in NY and Paladino's, Palin's and others - religious, by churches “brain washed” people comments and activity confirms our opinion about it.
We thank you for your effort to take bullying and homophobia problems under your consideration. We support your action and wish you all the best
with regards and respect
yours

I've been a fan since reading True Story when it was first published. Would love for you to be a guest on one of my blogs:

How about this kind peace loving Muslim:
VISTA, Calif. -- A California woman gave hair-raising testimony Tuesday in the trial of a Hollywood actor accused of stabbing her 23 times.
Kendra Beebe said she was attacked in her home in 2008 by her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Shelley Malil.
Malil appeared in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" with Steve Carell, and has also appeared in "The Office" and "Scrubs." He is charged with premeditated attempted murder and faces life in prison if convicted.
In her testimony, Beebe said she was talking with a friend over glasses of wine on her patio when she looked up and saw Malil standing nearby.
"I felt primal animal fear," she said.
Beebe and Malil had recently broken off a stormy relationship, and she said he had a crazy look on his face, saying "Kendra, Kendra, Kendra," as he approached.
"He had his hand behind his back, came up, I thought 'He's going to hug me,'" she said. "Then I thought, 'Oh, no, he's going to hit me.' Then I saw this flash of silver and he goes bang, bang, bang."
Beebe's friend, David Maldonado, jumped up and wrestled the knife away and threw it over a fence.
Beebe was bleeding, holding her side, and said she did the only thing she could.
"So I screamed at the top of my lungs, like 'Help, 911! Call 911 he's killing me!"
After Maldonado ran for his cell phone to call for help, Beebe said Malil got a larger knife and chased her through the house.
"Shelley stabbed me again after I had been stabbed all those times, and so that last one really bothered me, I was like 'You got me man, you already won.' That last stab really hurt," she said.
So, if they want Sharia law, lets chop his fucking head off without a trial. Let Pat Robertson judge him.

Sorry Joe. You don't get to be president.
We can accept God becoming man to save man. But not man becoming God to save himself.
Dear Bill Maher,
I’ll start by sucking up and saying what a big fan I am, blah, blah, blah. Sometimes you screw up or are shockingly ignorant on a subject but you’re fighting the good fight and unlike your counterparts on basic cable channels, you admit to mistakes. A tiny mistake from last Friday’s show was the pronunciation of the county with the asshole firemen. It’s oh-BUY-un (phonetically oBAIyun). I think you said OHbeeon or something.
Just so you know, I grew up in Western Kentucky just north of there and it is a bigger shithole than you can possibly imagine. You’ve heard of the Bible Belt? This is the puss leaking from the penis just behind the belt. It is a horrible place full of mean, hateful people that are truly the worst on earth. You haven’t seen hate until you’ve lived amongst the Church of Christ and Baptist motherfuckers that make up the population there. Horrible, evil, haters to the core, most of them were delighted to hear about this man’s house burning to the ground and would’ve been delighted if his children had been killed as well. They would have felt it was just.
But that’s not what I’m writing about.
I was really disappointed that you let P.J. O’Rourke and S.E. Cupp get away with one of the stupidest Republican tropes out there: “The government can’t create jobs.” This is utter and complete horseshit. Here’s how you counter that statement:
1. During the New Deal the government put most of America to work. Those weren’t jobs?
2. The people that are re-building all our roads and bridges aren’t working at jobs?
3. When the government gives people jobs they spend money because they have money.
4. That money being spent means people sell things meaning they have to buy things to sell meaning they have to hire people to sell the things and make the things and that stimulates the economy and creates more jobs.
5. The best way to make sure that government money moves straight into the economy is to give it to the poorest first because they’re going to spend it immediately. I’m poor. I assure you this is true.
Republicans’ problem with this is the money is going to the bottom instead of the top, and they prefer to be trickled on than raised up. That’s why they vote against their best interests (mention *What’s the Matter with Kansas* next time they disagree with you on that one), it’s because they believe they are better than everyone else even though they are dirt poor and getting poorer. We live in a country of idiots that function according to belief rather than reality.
There’s also the simple fact that what pulled us out of the Great Depression more than any other thing is that our government took complete and absolute control of the entire economy for four years and put everybody to work with good paying jobs with great benefits while forcing conservation and economy. When our boys came home from war they came home to fat bank accounts, free education, and health care for life and that combined with the New Deal is why we had the greatest economy, best educated citizenry, and best health in the world up until the Republicans managed to end it all.
“You can’t raise taxes during a recession” is bullshit. “Tax cuts create jobs” is bullshit. “Democratic spending caused the recession” is bullshit. “The government can’t do it better (or cheaper)” is bullshit. We have proof in recent history against all these but the Republicans keep on stating them as if they were laws of nature and they need to be called on it every time. Maybe next time you have two conservatives on, haul out that little list and point out to them how each and every one has no basis in fact. The Republican economic world view is just as H.W. Bush called it: "Voodoo economics." In other words it is a religion, a belief system, not a science. It is pure fantasy and history proves it again and again and again.
I watched Overtime as well and here’s a thing that occurred to me years ago about President Carter’s time in office. The GOP hated Carter with a loathing that may exceed that which they have for Obama and were almost as obstructionist as today’s Congress. The oil supply was cut off right after he got elected (probably with strong encouragement from GOP leaders). The real nail in his coffin was the failed rescue mission in Iran. Who planned this operation? The CIA. Who gave the intel that it was safe to fly those helicopters? The CIA. Who was the head of the CIA? George H.W. Bush. What did Nixon say about Bush? “He’ll do anything we tell him.” Worth thinking about.
Thanks for your time. Please quit fucking up.
Love,
Alan Miller
Hey Bill,
Look forward to your show every week. You actually rely on facts when stating opinions, unlike your conservative counterparts who simply repeat the same old lies over and over again until the 52% of stupid people in this country assume the lies to be the truth. I do have a suggestion to improve future shows. Dump P. J. O'Rourke; he's a pompous, egotistical, spotlight-grabbing asshole who is irritating as hell expousing absolute nonsense.
Bill, you said you would not suspend reason for religious faith. I agree, for much the same reasons.
Please apply this same discretionary judgement to politics. They are so full of shit that they have to redefine ALL the words they use to cover up their crimes.
Once upon a time, a woman was picking up firewood. She came upon a poisonous snake frozen in the snow. She took the snake home and nursed it back to health. One day the snake bit her on the cheek. As she lay dying, she asked the snake, "Why have you done this to me?" And the snake answered, "Look, bitch, you knew I was a snake." - NBK, Olliver Stone
Dawkins was talking about evolution as if it were the defining issue of our time, but he must be thinking of rural politics during the 20th century.
When Dawkins argued against Atheism being connected with political deaths, I'm surprised no one thought of communism, which exterminated 100 million people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism_and_religion#Communists_on_religion
It would be great to hear more about globalism instead of evolution.
I'll mention that evolutionary disbelief has many implications for scientific researchers, but we should stop pretending that it matters what armchair scientists think about the issue, politically.
I'm also disappointed that Mr. Maher has allowed Dawkins to refer to Hitler as a Catholic believer. This is a disingenuous claim, but frequently repeated --would he say that Bush is a Christian because he played one on television?
You don't have to dig hard to find that Hitler hated having to adopt the false religious conviction of his youth.

Some bitter humor ... On June 7 , 2010 , the Afghan war became the longest war in U.S. history ( surpassing the Vietnam War ) ... And this event occurred under a U.S. president who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize ... What a joke !!! ...

When talking about spiritual revelation this week, Bill objected that certain people were tuned to the radio frequency that he was not able to. It's not that the freqency isn't available to everyone. But it is, like Sirius radio, a paid subscription, otherwise, you cannot tune into it. God reserves the right not to brodcast to you if you are not willing to pay the price. The price is that first of all, you have at least theoretically accept premise that God may exist, and you must have an attitude of submissive surrender and service. In the introduction to the Bhagavad-gita, Swami Prabhupada says, "Therefore Bhagavad-gita should be taken up in a spirit of devotion. One should not think that he is equal to Krsna, nor should he think that Krsna is an ordinary personality or even a very great personality. Lord Sri Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, at least theoretically, according to the statements of Bhagavad-gita or the statements of Arjuna, the person who is trying to understand the Bhagavad-gita. We should therefore at least theoretically accept Sri Krsna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and with that submissive spirit we can understand the Bhagavad-gita. Unless one reads the Bhagavad-gita in a submissive spirit, it is very difficult to understand Bhagavad-gita because it is a great mystery."
"Give 'em a break. After all, they're just making room."
When Meg takes charge you'll want to go home.
Schick, apparently you didn't read the Bhagavad Gita yourself. Your understanding is totally wrong. Did you surrender all your worldly possessions to the temple? If not we can make arrangements and for a price I'll explain it to you.
Goddammit! My Obama voodoo doll still isn't working! I even got the cheap plastic one made by child labor from Smalmart, just like the witch said!
No dude, its not that your voodoo doll doesn't work. You obviously got a cheap hex and someone with more mojo has out hexed you. Maybe Michelle got a real Kenya witch doctor to establish counter hexes to protect him. It would explain a lot...
Bill - I liked your humor, when you were funny, but in the last few years you have just taken an intellectual nosedive into mediocrity.
Bashing the system is the haven of failed comics - but's its the easy way out. How about finding something to believe in and a way to prove it?
Example: the economy. Yes, the pie DOES grow as ecenomic activity grows, this is what made america great. My piece getting bigger makes your piece bigger, because I spend more. Henry Ford made cars cheap enough for his workers to buy them. With mass production he made more cars, sold them, hired more people. etc.
If YOU were right about pies never growing there would be a billion people starving in China.
It's simple. I have a dollar, I hire you to do something for a dollar, you hire someone else and this goes on... But it's still JUST ONE DOLLAR, but $1000 in economic ACTIVITY. Economies grow by activity, you don't need a NEW dollar, you need to put the ones we already have into circulation.
Now we have no jobs, we have corps like Apple sitting on $billions in cash, etc. Why? we fear idiots like you will take take OUR piece of the pie, even though we share, just because you perceive us as greedy. We are not greedy, exactly the opposite, entrepreneurs are risk-takers, and they deserve to make money because they cerate wealth.
Religion - yes, is "stupid" - but having the humility to admit that a greater intelligence than your own is the reason why all of this is here is not stupid. You can accept spirituality without having to be "bible" religious. Yes, most religions are ancient failed attempts to explain what we don't really know - but they are also more - they are the only written account of human history in existence.
The trick, my friend, is to look for the grains of truth in each religion, the common ground, and seek a message of wisdom from the ancient people.
Yes, ignore all the fairy tales, but realize there was a great flood at one time, that certain people brought messages that made mankind evolve intellectually, that smart people like Abraham, David, Moses and Jesus led men by principles. That they gave humanity certain ideals to live by.
Stop judging people by whether they believe the fairy tales in the bible and start judging them by whether they understand the message - that a higher power may have a plan for us. Do you have a better explanation? Or is your ego so great that you know for a fact that such a greater intelligence could not possibly exist. Are you the most intelligent person in the world who will ever exist. When that person arrives, what will he say?
I have come to terms with the fact that I may never know those answers in my lifetime, but 1000 years ago they throught the world was flat and man could not fly to the moon.
Men do evolve, things do get reveiled. Your ego is the only thing holding you back from happiness, Bill. Surrender to the idea that maybe there is more to existence than you can see with your bare eyes, and that it just might be good.
Hang in there, Bill. I predict in 10 years you will be conservative and spiritutal. Wisdom comes with age. So does understanding basic capitalism.
A fan!
Let us consider television viewing in the light of the conditions that define serious addictions.
Not unlike drugs or alcohol, the television experience allows the participant to blot out the real world and enter into a pleasurable and passive mental state. The worries and anxieties of reality are as effectively deferred by becoming absorbed in a television program as by going on a 'trip' induced by drugs or alcohol. And just as alcoholics are only vaguely aware of their addiction, feeling that they control their drinking more than they really do ('I can cut it out any time I want—I just like to have three of four drinks before dinner'), people similarly overestimate their control over television watching. Even as they put off other activities to spend hour after hour watching television, they feel they could easily resume living in a different, less passive style. But somehow or other, while the television set is present in their homes, the click doesn't sound. With television pleasures available, those other experiences seem less attractive, more difficult somehow.
Finally it is the adverse effect of television viewing on the lives of so many people that defines it as a serious addiction. The television habit distorts the sense of time. It renders other experiences vague and curiously unreal while taking on a greater reality for itself. It weakens relationships by reducing and sometimes eliminating normal opportunities for talking, for communicating.
1977
Kill the electronic babysitter! Kill! Kill!
Kill!
Most unsettling of all is this: the content of television is not a vision but a manufactured data stream that can be sanitized to 'protect' or impose cultural values. Thus we are confronted with an addictive and all-pervasive drug that delivers an experience whose message is whatever those who deal the drug wish it to be. Could anything provide a more fertile ground for fostering fascism and totalitarianism than this? In the United States, there are many more televisions than households, the average television set is on six hours a day, and the average person watches more than five hours a day—nearly one-third of their waking time. Aware as we all are of these simple facts, we seem unable to react to their implications. Serious study of the effects of television on health and culture has only begun recently. Yet no drug in history has so quickly or completely isolated the entire culture of its users from contact with reality. And no drug in history has so completely succeeded in remaking in its own image the values of the culture that it has infected.
Television is by nature the dominator drug par excellence. Control of content, uniformity of content, repeatability of content make it inevitably a tool of coercion, brainwashing, and manipulation. Television induces a trance state in the viewer that is the necessary precondition for brainwashing. As with all other drugs and technologies, television's basic character cannot be changed; television is no more reformable than is the technology that produces automatic assault rifles
As the intelligence agencies that arose in the wake of World War II moved to take up their “deep cover” positions as the masterminds of the international narcotics cartels, the popular mind was turning on to television. Flattening, editing, and simplifying, television did its job and created a postwar American culture of the Ken-and-Barbie variety. The children of Ken and Barbie briefly broke out of the television intoxication in the mid-sixties through the use of hallucinogens. “Oops,” responded the dominators, and they quickly made psychedelics illegal and halted all research. A double dose of TV therapy plus cocaine was ordered up for the errant hippies, and they were quickly cured and turned into consumption-oriented yuppies. Only a recalcitrant few escaped this leveling of values.” Nearly everyone learned to love Big Brother. And these few who don’t are still clucked over by the dominator culture each time it compulsively scratches in the barnyard dust of its puzzlement over “what happened in the Sixties.”
Dear Prudence
So kids, now you know why they rebroadcast commercials and periodical shows like Flipoff With Rachel & The Daily Grind. They want to tatoo your brains really good an tight...

Bill, I saw your 10-8-2010 show tonight, and you seemed to struggle for a moment to quash O'Rourke and what's-her-face as they jumped to defend Beck's religion shopping. The line you were looking for is:
"Belief is not a choice."
Right? You don't realy have a choice to truly believe something,
(e.g., gravity, fire is hot, etc). CHOOSING, arbitrarily, to believe something ("I'm going to be a mormon" / "I choose to be a christian") betrays itself in that it requires an act of will: If one must choose and/or force oneself to "believe" something, one is at best fighting with one's own common sense and reason, and is more probably just paying hypocritical lip-service to something.
your welcome. Thanks for having Dawkins on your show. He should have an HBO special, that would be awesome.
The iron hand crush'd the Tyrant's head And became a tyrant in his stead.
P. J. O'Rourke...
Oh. My. God.
Please never book him on your show again. He's completely unfunny and clearly out of his depth intellectually. Which is sad and scary. Wow.
He's sucked on your show before, and he sucked again. No more O'Rourke please.
Apparently some shallow astroturfing psycho has it in for PJ. Give it a rest, nutcase.
Thats not scary enough, add another thousand & cut me in for 10%. Yeah, quadrillion comes after trillion. Whats that? Quintillion. Okay, see you at the bar.
Dear Bill,
Have you or anyone on your staff read the deposition online from the woman who worked at the law firm that was doing a large amount of the foreclosure? This deposition is the reason the banks put the breaks on the foreclosures.
All I can say after reading it is WTF?
These are attorney's! If any of us did this the cops would raid our homes and offices and we would be in jail. I guess the bankers and their attorneys did not read the small print in the contracts that said they cannot commit fraud.
My guess is another round of huffing and puffing by our do nothing government and these guys get off Scott free just like the CEO's of the banking world.
Wall Street response to this was? Its the homeowner fault in the first place. If they made their payments on time none of this would have happen. They should get out of the home so the bank can sell it and get their profit.
How soon they forgot that they could not pay their bills or dept and we the people bailed them out so they would not lose their offices and big bonus.
What is it going to take for people to wake up?
What has to happen before we say okay enough is enough and really do something about this kind of abuse?
Instant karma is stomping dirty bankers. I wonder when it will get to the corrupt politicians.
Bill,
Could you please start having more credible guests when your panel is going to discuss the economy and the future of the US economy. I mean, after tonight's show I was a little disappointed. At least make sure your panel understands the difference between the TARP and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Two easily distinguishable stimulus packages under two different administrations, I believe John Legend was completely misinformed on several issues, ie. TARP-successful (Bush Administration), ARRA not too successful (Obama Administration). If he doesn't know the difference between which stimulus package worked I don't believe his opinion is worthless. Actually every piece of insight delivered tonight was piss poor...
Yeah, P.J. O'Rourke... LOL what a moron. My fiancee was like "ooooh, PJ O'Rourke, he's so funny, he's on NPR." So I was like "cool." Then, he starts interrupting serious conversations to try to tell these ridiculous so-called "jokes" or sarcastic stories or whatever... Wow. The basis for his sarcasm was completely ugly. When he argued against "green technology" and emission reduction on the basis that it's hopeless anyways, I wanted to punch the TV screen for a second. And on and on. What a smarmy, evasive, lying, unfunny, egotistical idiot. I mean, obviously he is supposed to be all Ivy League and waspy-cool or whatever; I thought he might actually starting reading a poem or limrick, or singing one. "There'll be a billion buicks owned by chinese, so don't worry about exxon valdez, indians will consume oil like tea, so I'll sell my soul to BP. --thank you thank you yes hahhahaha" Jeez, he should be at a old people's club in Boston playing the piano and telling jokes, not on a political show. And he's so evasive, him at that girl refusing to answer pointed questions for Maher... but you know, on their own shows they will viciously attack "liberals." But when asked directly he can only reply with some stupid joke. Have a nice day.
I would like Bill to clear up a mistake his guest Richard Dawkins said about salt water and the Quran. The guest said that the Quran states that salt water and water don't mix. This is absurd. The quran does NOT state this. There is a verse that explains how bodies of salt water do not mix with bodies of fresh water. And this is a scientific phenomena, so please stop taking guests at their word without challenging these absurd assumptions.
The only time salt water separates from fresh water is when you freeze it and that depends on conditions. Salt is ionic and H2O carries a polar charge so your claim that fresh water doesn't mix with salt water is wrong!
Mohammad saw the moon split in 2. Tell us about.
Mohammad claimed the devil enters a man's nostrils when he sleeps. Pray, explain to us ignorant infidels the scientific 'demon'stration of this wondrous fact.
The terrorist is the one with the small bomb.
Actually its not my claim:
Modern Science has discovered that in the places where two different seas meet, there is a barrier between them. This barrier divides the two seas so that each sea has its own temperature, salinity, and density.
[Principles of Oceanography - Davis, pp. 92-93]
The Mediterranean Sea water as it enters the Atlantic over the Gibraltar sill with its own warm, saline and less dense characteristics, because of the barrier that distinguishes between them. Temperatures are in degrees Celsius.
I didnt say all bodies of water, I said this is a phenomena that exists.
Bill O'rielly was wrong when he said Muslems killed us on 9-11. Muslem's did not kill us on 9-11, muslim exstremist killed us on 9-11
There is a difference. If I said that I hate white people because they steal would be wrong. Who I really hate is the thief no matter the color. I hate the terroristm black, brown, white, Christian, muslim who ever. A terrorist is a terrorist/.
Correct, there are regions of differing salinity. This is not even similar to 'fresh water is not miscible with saline water'. The reasons for the differing salinity have to do with initial conditions, currents, temperature & pressure gradient.
I am condemning your claim that your religious doctrine is scientific in any way. I don't care if you are muslim, I do this to everyone who asserts supernatural intelligence where no evidence exists. Wiki 'foolishness theory'. The oral and literary traditions of tribal cultures all contain the collected wisdom of the tribe. By its nature this dogma is rigidly fixed and not flexible - it had to be to survive the distortions of centuries of oral transfer. Its still heavily contaminated with wishful thinking and misinterpretation, all of it.
This property of fixation has resulted in the extinction of many tribes. That and the fact that the culture with the most alcohol always overwhelms the one that doesn't.
Btw Muhammad was a jew. He may not have been a very good one, but he was very jewish. Just like rabbi Jesus, and Jesus didn't follow it well either, otherwise he'd not have stood out.
Religion is subordinate to reason. Predatory political animals use it to profit from it; we need to put aside our differences & cage them all, and sterilize all their relatives to expunge that phenome.
Dear Bill, as much as i hate to admit it. Dressing up as an Elite German soldier & Playing "Army" doesn't condemn a man from political office. I love your show & watch every episode, I can safely say I agree with the majority of what you say. I respect & admire you greatly that's why it pains me to hear you get your history wrong. The 5th SS (Wiking) Armored Div. was not part of the "Einsatzgruppen" SS. As you know( & if you don't shame on you) the 5th SS Armored Div. was part of the "Waffen" SS. By the way, to help you with your German, Einsatzgruppe means Task force & Waffen means Weapons. The Einsatzgruppen were used to murder Jews, the Waffen were used to fight the Allied armies. The titles for the two are vague but those were the words the Germans used to differentiate between two separate elements of the SS. I'm sure you're saying " yeah so?!" & that's where you fail. I wholeheartedly condemn the actions of the Einsatzgruppen SS but not the Waffen SS. These things never interested you or you'd already know the difference. If you consider yourself an educated man then educate yourself on topics you address on your show before hand, don't prove me wrong.
Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction.
New rule: Early voting in all states, once you vote all political ads go away. Will increase voter participation dramatically...
