Republicans, stop calling Obama elitist

Because the real reason you don't like him is that he's smarter than you.

Sept. 5, 2008 New Rule: Republicans need to stop saying Barack Obama is an elitist, or looks down on rural people, and just admit you don't like him because of something he can't help, something that's a result of the way he was born. Admit it, you're not voting for him because he's smarter than you.

In her acceptance speech, Gov. Sarah Palin accused Obama of using his run for the White House as a "journey of personal discovery" -- this from the lady who just spent 10 minutes of her speech introducing her family -- Track, Trig, Bristol, Piper -- for a minute there I thought she was calling in an airstrike.

Karl Rove described Obama as "the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini, and making snide comments about everyone who passes by." Unlike George Bush, who's the guy at the country club who makes snide comments, and then passes out. Now this characterization, of course, was something Mr. Rove just completely pulled out of his bulbous, gelatinous ass, but remember this is America, a land where people believe anything they hear. One of McCain's ads casts Obama as "the one," implying he thinks he's the Messiah. Good, maybe he can raise McCain from the dead.

It doesn't matter to Karl Rove that his country club characterization is fictitious, it's the role that Obama must play if the party of plutocrats is going to win over the little guy. Over and over at this convention we heard about the new put-upon victim in our society, the person in America, like Sarah Palin, who's constantly mocked because they're from a ... small town! Governor Yup Yup's got 'em all riled up about being disrespected.

Barack Obama can't help it if he's a magna cum laude Harvard grad and you're a Wal-Mart shopper who resurfaces driveways with your brother-in-law. Americans are so narcissistic that our candidates have to be just like us. That's why George Bush is president. And that's where the McCain camp gets its campaign strategy: Paint Obama as cocky and arrogant and wait for America to vote him off, like the black guy in every reality show. A black president? Half of Pennsylvania isn't ready for black quarterbacks. Forget Obama, they think Will Smith needs to be taken down a peg.

And finally: As for "country first," you know who's putting country first? I am, by supporting Obama, because a victory this fall for the McCain-Mooseburger ticket would make my job in the next four years very, very easy.

As far as I am concerned if I can sit down and have a drink with you then you aren't smart enough to run this country, because I know I'm not. And please stop sending us the C students if you didn't make it somewhere in the top of your class then you shouldn't be running for president. Palin took six years and 5 colleges to get a degree, and John McCain graduated 894 out of 899 from the US Naval Academy.

Sure McCain knows more about National security, he was around during "The Big Bang" but Obama is the man that should be in the White house. He also has Joe Biden to catch him up on National security, oh yeah McCain has Sarah Palin. (They sure are keeping her from the press now, I saw her yesterday on TV looking at trees) When as they call us "Main street" start living in tents in every town across america I think Obama would be better suited for the job. I just finished writing a song titled "The Middle Class" "The middle class as you see it exists no more, it's only the rich and the poor" That's my statement, so don't try to use it without giving me the credit.

i want to know why i didn't work for the entire year of '07 and yet i got taxed by the feds. and the state more than any year previous?

does this seem right to anyone? yeah i have lots of investments but i've always had them and i haven't cashed in a single one. now, that while i was taking a year off from the Hollywood Devil that is FOX, they taxed the panties off of me!

i was a director on the simpsons and futurama for about 13 years. i made 100k and a lot more for all of it. i saved my money, paid into my 401k, and kept my investments. i wasn't greedy. my brother tells me i have this whikopedia page that makes me a big shot. a lot of good it did me.

i paid more taxes in 2007 than i have ever paid in my life. 8k for capital gains i never cashed in on cause our state and govrmnt are so poor. i lost all those capital gains this year due to a bad economy. does my caring govmt. have a 'bail out plan' to pay me back from what they took last year?

i was smart enough not to buy a house during the housing boom. it was only suckers that took that bait. i tried to tell them no, but no one would listen to me.

apparently, there were far more suckers than banks had johns to turn their morgage tricks to.

it was basically a pyramid scam. last kid on the bottom eats their money and people on the top make out. yup....sad but take into consideration the energy scam on California. it was the same set up.

this is why i'm for Obama. he has this "Monumental idea" that you can look at patterns then look ahead and see the bad outcome. Then choose to do something to stop it, to just do something before everything goes to shit. i'm tired of being punked!

he doesn't want to start fires, but he doesn't want to have to put them out either. he has this idea that if you do your job right, there will be no fires.

this hits home with me.

i want to work with you. i can write, tell people what to do, be funny and sacastic, and make people blow their fairy dust in the direction it's supposed to go.

i can also follow direction and blow my own fairy dust, thank you.

Bill,

I like your show, but I just watched some footage of 911 truthers disturbing your show. They were too agressive, sure, but they were right. I wish you had the guts to debate it with Paul Craig Roberts (Reagan's Treas. Sec), or Lt. Col Bob Bowman, fighter pilot, or Bob Macilvanie, who lost his son at WTC, or architect Richard Gage, or physicist Steven Jones, CIA dept chief Wm. Cristison, or Intelligence Briefer to Carter and Reagan Ray McGovern or any of the thousands of others (140 military officers, 475 architects and engineers, 50 members of European Parliament, the Presidents of Egypt, Italy, and Pakistan, hundreds of family members, first responders, and WTC survivors) who ALL SAY that 911 was an inside job.
I want to respect you, but this shortfall displays cowardice.
Debate it if you are politically incorrect.
Call me if you have nutsac and I'll debate it.

Mr. Maher,

I viewed the end of your show this past Friday, September 26th, and was taken back by the remarks you made about Sarah Palin in the closing monologue. While I am sure you were merely poking fun like a satirist would do, I feel it showed bad taste on your part. I have no problem with people having their preference of whom they favor in the election, that's' why we have the right. To which if you were making a statement regarding Palin's stance on issues or what she has or hasn't done, then I could appreciate your ability to find the humor in that and make the commentary. But the fact that you stated to the extent that all Palin was good for was kicking out babies and her daughter was following suite was classless. You hold a special platform being a television host and the remarks did nothing but show that all society seems to know how to do is criticize and demean with a negative connotation. Be intelligent not ignorant. Putting your job requirements aside, I look at you as less of a man let alone comedian because of that monologue. I appreciate all humor and understand that sometimes you need to cross the line for a joke, but that monologue wasn't even worthy of a cheap laugh. I merely hope that if your wife or a family member is ever referred to in the same light for not having an abortion or having a child out of wedlock, you use the same conduct and disrespect towards them. I wondered whether if the situation was reversed and Obama or someone in relation to him had a similar situation occur, would you use the same speech? Only you know that answer. I'm sure you won't agree with my opinion since I'm probably the only viewer to comment on the monologue, but I thought it needed to be addressed. I wish the all the best for your show and your career. Thank you for your time.

Why does the government allow a private organization to call themselves the FEDERAL reserve? And how come we let them get away with making fantasy money that inflates violently instead of having it the way it was with the gold standard? Dear Mr. Maher,
You are a very funny guy. The reason I know that is because I hear some of your liberal leftist blatherings on your show as my sister insists on watching (of course, I walk away usually but do catch snippets). Come on, Bill, get real. You don't even make manager at McDonalds after 143 days of employment and yet you're oohing and aahing over someone who has that much "real" government experience to lead the world's greatest country.
If Cindy McCain had said on live TV in public that for the first time in her life she is proud of being an American, we'd never hear the end of it. If John McCain's "spritual advisor" for TWENTY YEARS had preached G-d damn America, we'd still be deluged about it on TV (esp. your show, unless you have treasonous leanings which I'm beginning to wonder about). If John McCain replaced the American flag on his private jet with his arrogant O symbol, heaven forbid, we'd be bombarded to death about it. If John McCain had been raised up by a State with the most corrupt political machines in the land with the country's largest prison and highest sales tax, well heaven help us on that. If John McCain had been designated President of The Harvard Law Review (a voluntary position)and never contributed one op ed or other article, we'd really wonder, "what's with that?". If John McCain had continuously voted FOR late-term abortion when the child, though alive, is thrown in a waste bin to suffer it's last breathing minutes, wait up, wouldn't that be real news? That Muslim Terrorists are jumping up and down and clapping because an apostate may soon be the leader of the trustest democracy known to Man is of no concern to you and your ilk? What's the use of going on? By the way, President Clinton, in 1999, signed the dereg bill wherein banks could get into business that went beyond banking and has now resulted in the biggest financial mess since the Great Depression. Look it up. Concerning comment by locutus, tax returns by both Mr. Obama and Mrs. Obama going back to 2000 show no interest paid on student loans. Who really financed their education? Could it have been Black Muslim-Black Nationalist and mentor to the founders of the Black Panthers, one Mr. Khalid Al-Mansour?
All the masses have to hear over and over again is how old Mr. Mcain is and how he is a Bush lover, etc. ad nauseum, whereas Mr. Obama is spotless, even though he has proven ties to terrorists, ie. that White guy who went around bombing American buildings; aiding Farrakahn in this task of dividing this country. Mr. Obama has been a community organizer - what is that? As I said, what's the use of going on. You just don't get it.

Well...now we hear from the right. Since you started this. Let's start with Cindy McCain, and her drug habit. Had either you, or I, or someone of any other ethnic background falsified the prescription medications that Cindy McCain STOLE from a medical aid Charity that she headed. Had someone else done this, they would have spent 15 years in jail or worse. She also broke up John S. McÇain's first marriage by coming on to him, a married man in a bar. This continual is forgotten by the right because she has so much MONEY.

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/1994-09-08/news/opiate-for-the-mrs/
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/1999/10/18/drugs/

So, now we get to the lack luster academic career for John S. McCain III. He was not a good student and his father was called several times during his time at Annapolis to get his son back in line because they were going to throw him out of the academy for ducking classes. It wasn't just his poor grades that got him to be 894 out of 899.

McCain spent most of his military career as an prisoner of war. While he did command 50 (yes only 50) other pilots in his group he does not have never the executive experience of that Four Star General Wesley Clark, had. So when people talk about his military experience, they are talking about a captain grade officer who almost flunked out of the academy.

McCain is a self purported ADULTERER, which is something that is lost on you Morality obsessed republications. Cindy McCain was not the first woman he committed Adultery with, there are scores of women that he slept with, had sex with, committed ADULTERY with during his time as an OFFICER, which is a violation of military law at that time which would have resulted in court martial. But it didn't because the NAVY protected this famous family once again. He is a Cheater and a LIAR.

In discussing Cheating and Lying, how about his involvement as part of the Keating 5, who took 1.3 million dollars in bribes...

"McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.[28]In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulentBahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.[7][29]"

So let us talk about character and what people have done. He has been part of the Republican machine IN WASHINGTON since 1982, and NOW he wants to effect change.

You just don't get it. McCain is a LIAR AND A CHEAT, and his wife is a DRUG ADDICT.

Hello. First off, this has nothing to do with the article. Sorry. I don't know if this is considered spamming or not. Probably is. Oh well. I'd hope that Bill has time to maybe read some of these posts, or maybe he has some person do it form him and word will get back to him somehow. I'd like the help of the atheist community, and I don't know how best to reach them, so I'm begging folks such as Bill, the Happy Heretic, the Infidel Guy, and The Rational Response Squad, and any others I can think of. Penn & Teller are next on my list!

I'd like to rally the atheists of America to drop a money bomb on savedarfur.org on Oct 31, and also to write their congress men and women to let them know that we are concerned. I just watched the movie "The Devil Came on Horseback," and it really moved me. It's obviously about the crisis in Darfur and there is a point in the movie that gave me goosebumps. I think it would have the same affect on any American. A refugee was praising America and thanking America and her people for the help they are receiving in food, medicine, etc. It's just been so very, very long since I've heard a foreigner say anything besides, "Death to America!" It felt very good to know that what little we are doing is actually helping some people and that it's appreciated. I'm a white guy from Mississippi, USA, but I recognize Africa as the true Mother Country. I hate to see senseless suffering and brutality anywhere. Man's inhumanity to man is a tragic embarrassment wherever it occurs. Still, Africa is special in a way. If any land can be called sacred it is not Mecca, it is not Israel, nor the Black Hills of America. The only land that has a legitimate claim is Africa because it is there that humanity began. So why can't we in the atheist community help our brothers and sisters in need? People are still starving, being raped, and brutally beaten and killed. It's just one area of a whole world that is suffering, but at least we would be doing something somewhere to help. I'm not very far from poverty myself, but I speak of American poverty. American poverty is extravagantly rich compared to Sudanese living in refugee camps far from their homes with little or no clean water, little or no food, and a constant threat of violence. I choose October 31 so as to give time to get the message out, and also because Halloween irritates Christians. If atheists decide to do something, Halloween is a great day to do it. Ha!

So, that's it. Money bomb to http://www.savedarfur.org on Halloween, and write you state's representatives. Just a teeny little blurb on your website to help spread the word would be amazing!!! If not, then that's fine too. I still appreciate all that you do. A big atheist humanitarian uprising would be kind of cool though. Christians do it so as to spread their message of Jesus. (It may not happen this way, but I really can imagine starving people having to sit through Bible study before they are allowed to eat.) We atheists would help because it is the right thing to do.

O.k. I'm done. Sorry to interupt this blog, but I think it's for a good and noble cause. Besides, we better help and show our goodwill now because we are certain to need the favor returned in the future. Sadly, I fear it will be the near and not the far future that America will require humanitarian aid from other countries.

clydene said...

My question would be how can all you "Christians" support a Liar and an Adulterer; and his Drug Addict wife in McCain and his wife Cindy. It seems a little two faced to me. Where is the Christian Right?

Oh, I forgot it is okay as long as you have money if you live like this.

Address these issues...if the roles were reversed you would all be jumping on Barack Obama.

I never thought I would quote the Christian Science Monitor:

"Cringe

Sarah Palin’s real life interview with Katie Couric was not well-received. Disastrous, cringe-inducing, awful, and unflattering were all words used to describe the one-on-one.

So bad was the interview, Republican strategists were calling for McCain to resume his campaign and hold the debate simply to get the Couric interview off the air.

One conservative columnist called for Palin to remove herself from the ticket stating that the Alaska Governor was “clearly out her league.” And a FOX News commentator agreed with the “out of her league” assessment stating, ““I hate to say it, but she may be right.”

The interview, however, provided a goldmine for comedy writers.

Sarah and Katie

A parody of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live two weeks ago was well-received by the Republican vice presidential nominee, according to her press secretary. It would be hard to imagine she felt the same about last night’s treatment.

Alaska’s proximity to Russia and why that emboldens Palin’s foreign policy credentials happened in the real Palin and Couric interview as we discussed earlier. The SNL writers thought that was pretty good material."

From Hendrick Herzberg at the New Yorker:

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/hendrikhertzberg/2008/09/foreign-countri.html
"FOREIGN COUNTRIES

The second installment of Katie Couric’s interview with Sarah Palin aired last night. The topic was the great wide world. One exchange deserves special study. From the transcript provided by CBS:

COURIC: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It’s funny that a comment like that was kinda made to…I don’t know, you know…reporters.

COURIC: Mocked?

PALIN: Mocked, yeah I guess that’s the word, mocked.

COURIC: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…

COURIC: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It’s very important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right next to, they are right next to our state.

This seems to be a case of incoherence of thought leading to incoherence of syntax. Pronouns wander in search of antecedents like Arctic explorers in a blinding snowstorm. Homophones confuse the transcriber. For example, one of the Governor’s answers could as sensibly, or insensibly, be rendered as

PALIN: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And they’re…

In the “Putin rears his head” answer, jagged shards of the hasty briefings lately stuffed into Palin’s pretty head clang tinnily against one another. “We send those”—those? those what?—”out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this powerful nation, Russia.” Those what? We send what? My hunch is that this alarming jumble must have something to do with the path that Russian intercontinental missiles would take on their way to the lower Forty-eight and/or the air-defense installations that NORAD maintains in the state Palin is executive of. But who knows? The whole thing reads like something rendered from the Finnish by Google Translate."

Bill,

You're a very difficult man to get a hold of. I know this post is off topic but I need your help.

Charles C. Lynch operated a medical cannabis dispensary under state law BUT FACES 100 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON for doing so.

He called the DEA in 9/05 ask the DEA agent what they were going to do about all the medical marijuana dispensaries in CA. He was told "It's up to the cities and counties to handle that matter". He asked, "What if I want to open my own medical marijuana dispensary?" again he was told "It's up to the cities and counties to handle that matter".

So Charlie went to his county and found a city to open his dispensary in spring 06. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff investigated him and his location for nearly a year with undercover cops, surveillance, and paid criminal informants but could not find any city, county, or state violations of laws, so the Sheriff invited the DEA to raid Lynch's dispensary and home(of course with the help of the local sheriff's department) on 3/29/07.

Long story short, the feds eventually arrested and prosecuted Lynch. He was found guilty in 8/08 of violating 5 federal cannabis-only laws (even though he was within state law) and now ***FACES 100 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON***.

I've been organizing a PEACEFUL rally for 10/6 at 11 am outside the federal courthouse at 312 N Spring St in downtown LA. Can you please cover this story this week on Real Time and mention the rally? We need as many people as possible to attend, so that we can get enough media coverage, so people can know about this travesty of justice.

Thank you in advance,
Cheryl

*Please don't mention my last name on air.

P.S.
He had the mayor and city attorney testify on his behalf as a law abiding citizen. THIS STORY NEEDS TO BE TOLD!!!

Bimbo Alert

http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_columnists_ezorn/2008/09/the-bar-is-pain.html

Syndicated liberal radio talk-show host Ed Schultz (heard locally from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on WCPT AM 820) has been saying this:

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless." (From his Web site)

And it's fair to say that expectations for Palin almost couldn't be lower. Her ditzy ramblings have reinforced the image of her as a sparkly naif that the late-night comics have seized on:

John McCain wants to suspend his debate with Barack Obama until the economic crisis is over. And Sarah Palin wants to suspend her debate with Joe Biden until she can find Europe on a map.....Jay Leno

Someone should ascertain exactly how many months, weeks and days there were between the "Thanks..." and the "No, thanks!" in Ms. Palin's response to the "bridge to nowhere." My guess is that the pause in her delivery might add some comic effect.

Everyone should be careful pre-judging Thursday’s debates. With everyone assuming that Palin will fall on her face, all she has to do is speak in complete sentences and sound coherent and people will say she won. Include the fact that American’s tend to appreciate style over substance, we might not want to underestimate a former beauty queen when one of the major topics is going to be “World Peace”. As soon as a person underestimates an opponent, the opponent has an edge to win.

Bill,
Just wanted to say that you should get down on your knees and thank God that you live in a country where a person such as yourself who is not funny and has no redeeming qualities can make a great living with his own show. Your show should be called "Misery Loves Company". Quite pathetic. Concerning your movie, I have always wondered why people who are so convinced that there is no God make fun of people of faith. Your pseudo-intellectual musings are drivel. Are you trying to hide your own fears? As you can see, I am not politically correct. Wake up.

First of all,I am not going to point fingers of blame. This Economic Crisis affects all of us.

Now, when the Government bails out these Corporations to allow people to carry on with their lives, what happens in the meantime to the ones who are so behind right now.

I suggest to all Mortgage holders and Banks who are now suffering to in turn, help the consumer who is suffering the most.

You contact each consumer, admit that they and you are both feeling the crunch of this crisis so, therefore, our offer to you is in order to make the economy stronger and get consumer confidence back, we are eliminating all late fees, overlimit fees, 25% of your balance and giving you 2 months to start fresh.

Allowing the consumer just "a little relief", it will allow them to continue on and not feel it is a lost cause for them. (Of course no transactions in the meantime, prove dedication on each side before committing to a long term association, you default, you lose).

Bailing out the Large Corporations will not solve the crisis! The consumer has to "be able" to meet the minimum in order to continue abiding by their debt. My fear is, this will not happen. Government will rescue the Corporations but, the consumer in the meantime is left with a debt they cannot pay because the Corporations will be even more greedy than before so, we still lose this battle.

Again, the blame belongs to "BOTH" parties and we, the voters, are paying for this.

It is time the consumer stands up to the ones who are making it "too easy" for the consumer to receive that credit, suck them in, then hit them with a ton bricks!

AND BILL, YOU NEED NEW MATERIAL, GO AFTER THESE CORPORATIONS (NON-PARTISAN of COURSE) REGARDING THEIR GREED WITH NO GRACE PERIOD FOR CONSUMERS (I know you are Rich and don't worry about little crap like this but, your Bloggers are "normal" people!)

THIS IS A NON-PARTISAN ISSUE BECAUSE "BOTH" PARTIES ARE RESPONSIBLE!

Bill, just once, try Bi-Partisan! You might be surprised and make more money!

Yes We Can, Stand For Change We Can Believe In!

Are we finally coming of age
Are the answers within reach
Can we take our Country back
Fight what the corporations preach?

Will it be for, we the people
The way, it was meant to be
Can we stop the loss of our rights
Return to, the land of the free?

One man cannot change it all
He can't take it all apart
But with our help it can be done
And at the top, is where we start.

The status quo, has got to go
We all know, it's got to change
We can't wait, till it's too late
Now, is the time to rearrange.

It all started out with NAFTA
Bill Clinton could have stopped it cold
Now, the China Trade Agreement
Has them make most all that's sold.

The Congress and the Senate
Let it all snowball and grow
We borrow from the Communists
They'll bankrupt us, don't you know?

They give King Bush a free hand
To do most anything he likes
Like torture and wiretapping
And so-called preemptive strikes.

We must hold them all accountable
If they won't do the People's will
We merely have to kick them out
And vote for someone who will.

We can bring our Troops home
From Bushes ill begotten war
Give them the care they all deserve
Before we lose too many more.

On the other hand we can vote
To stay a hundred years in Iraq
Where we should have never gone
So sad, we can't take it all back.

All that we've been wasting
We can start to spend on us
If it's not too late already
If our treasury's not gone bust.

People caught in our disasters
Could get aid instead of rhetoric
And told they will not be forgotten
While they live in trailers and get sick.

We could develop other energies
And get away from foreign oil
Like cheap, renewable sources
Grown here on American soil.

We can take tax cuts from the rich
And give the middle class a break
Bring jobs back to our People
That corporations want to take.

Maybe, fix some roads and bridges
Have health care for everyone
Fix schools and pay the teachers
Just some things, that can be done.

As far as the “super delegates”
They best listen to, what voters say
Not just put in, who they want
With some arrogant power play.

It surely is a time for change
It's time for the People to rule
Instead of the corporate politicians
Headed up, by some other fool.

Maybe we'll restore our image
And be what, we once stood for
A beacon that the World will see
Once more, leads to Freedom's door.

But, we can't show them anything
Unless, we first, see the light
And guide our Nation to the place
Where we the People, have the Right.

Some may not get past the color
That's sad, in this day and age
It's time for them to get over it
So, we can turn another page.

Let's hope he'll do what he says
That we won't get the shaft again
And when he wins the election
It will be all of us who'll win.

We may not get another chance
At the least, not one like this
It's a once in a lifetime choice
That, would be a shame, to miss.

To my fellow Americans...... I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America ina "We Deserve it Dividend". To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, womanand child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up. So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00. My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend. Of course, it would NOT be tax free.So let's assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam. But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.A husband and wife would have $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00?Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved. Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads. Put away money for college - it'll be there. Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs. Buy a new car - create jobs. Invest in the market - capital drives growth. Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves. Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else Remember this is for every adult U.S. Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces. If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out A puny $1000.00 ('vote buy') economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President. If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+! As for AIG - liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up. Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.' But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom? I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC. And remember, this plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly
in taxes to Uncle Sam. Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my
chest.

On Tues. Sept. 30, Co-Host Joy Behar wrongly concurred with guest Bill Mahr in a statement that gravely misrepresented a fact concerning Sarah Palin that should be corrected/ retracted.

They said that there is a video on the YouTube of Sarah Palin being ministered to by a "Witch Doctor."

What they were referring to was a video that was also shown on The View that was of Church leaders praying over Sarah Palin for God's protection against "Witchcraft."

I believe that a retraction should be made on the air, on The View, especially since Co-Host Joy Behar wrongly concurred with Bill Mahr about this erroneous statement.

I am for Obama for the same reasons you are Bill, but I have to note that having graduated from Harvard, he has been brainwashed by that institute that anyone with a degree from there is better than everyone else, so in that sense he will have some elite mentality.. but I actually haven't seen it in him as in many others I have seen from Harvard.

As for his intelligence, that is what we need for we don't need another Bush who BRAGS about how he doesn't read newspapers for there is a lot to learn to understand and fix the country, economy, world and find a way to peace and prosperity, and even though Harvard may be obnoxious at times in the elitism, they are one of the best at finding people to admit there capable of intelligence and training them in a broad and analytical way. So maybe he deserves a little bit of elitism and its better than the elitism of cronyism or religosism or WASPism etc etc ism.

What has Bill Maher ever done that puts him in any position to be an expert on anything? So far he ranks up there with all the other mental masturbator hypocrites who get off on sitting back making snide remarks about others to make themselves seem more important.
Here is a quick look into 3 former Fannie Mae executives who have brought down Wall Street.
Franklin Raines was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae. Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe irregularities in Fannie Mae's accounting activities. At the time of his departure The Wall Street Journal noted, ' Raines, who long defended the company's accounting despite mounting evidence that it wasn't proper, issued a statement late Tuesday conceding that 'mistakes were made' and saying he would assume responsibility as he had earlier promised. News reports indicate the company was under growing pressure from regulators to shake up its management in the wake of findings that the company's books ran afoul of generally accepted accounting principles for four years.' Fannie Mae had to reduce its surplus by $9 billion.
Raines left with a 'golden parachute valued at $240 Million in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear.
>>> http://housingdoom.com/2006/12/18/fannie-charges/ .
The Government noted, 'The 101 charges reveal how the individuals improperly manipulated earnings to maximize their bonuses, while knowingly neglecting accounting systems and internal controls, misapplying over twenty accounting principles and misleading the regulator and the public. The Notice explains how they submitted six years of misleading and inaccurate accounting statements and inaccurate capital reports that enabled them to grow Fannie Mae in an unsafe and unsound manner.' These charges were made in 2006. The Court ordered Raines to return $50 Million Dollars he received in bonuses based on the miss-stated Fannie Mae profits.
>>>------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim Howard - Was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae.
Howard 'was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a 'stable pattern of earnings' at Fannie.
In everyday English - he was cooking the books. The Government Investigation determined that, 'Chief Financial Officer, Tim Howard, failed to provide adequate oversight to key control and reporting functions within Fannie Mae,'
On June 16, 2006, Rep. Richard Baker, R-La., asked the Justice Department to investigate his allegations that two former Fannie
Mae executives lied to Congress in October 2004 when they denied manipulating the mortgage-finance giant's income statement to achieve management pay bonuses. Investigations by federal regulators and the company's board of directors since concluded that management did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses. Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004. Howard's Golden Parachute was estimated at $20 Million!
>>>-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jim Johnson - A former executive at Lehman Brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO. A look at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's May 2006 report on mismanagement and corruption inside Fannie Mae, and you'll see some interesting things about Johnson. Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million.' Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae.
Johnson's Golden Parachute was estimated at $28 Million.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
FRANKLIN RAINES? Raines works for the Obama Campaign as Chief Economic Advisor

TIM HOWARD? Howard is also a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama
JIM JOHNSON? Johnson hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search Committee
IF OBAMA PLANS ON CLEANING UP THE MESS - HIS ADVISORS HAVE THE EXPERTISE - THEY MADE THE MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Would you trust the men who tore Wall Street down to build the New Wall Street?

Yeh, Obama's smart alright...Your a idiot bill

dear bill,

i saw a segment on your show last night about "bush" and i would like the opportunity to discuss with you and your audience my philosophy on the matter in a round-table forum. the great irony of course is this more elevated and evolved ideal of the woman's body is actually a tool of repression and conformity (imposed on women's bodies and men's imagination) and in terms of the psychological import of this trend one can see it as symptomatic of the larger theme in modernity of divorcing oneself from a natural state and the sickness of not embracing nature, but trying to control it. this is the same impetus that gives us a society 'McMansions"- this is a cultural sickness reflected in every walk of life and every means of self-expression, down to the hair on your asshole.

this is another example of Man's attempt to control nature (or to control women). this is the same force that gives you a tacky water-feature and brand new landscaping where a forest once ruled the land. this is the force that gives you suburbia, but being in california i'm sure you're familiar with this phenomena. point being, this is not natural and like all man made efforts, clearly inferior to the state of nature. furthermore it's a reflection of our disassociation with nature as a culture.

this is actually a very important issue. nothing is more frustrating than actually getting a girl's pants off and finding out she shaves it.

it's my feeling that this is what gibson meant, at least subconsciously, when he asked about the 'bush docterine'. a strong answer could have secured my vote too!

let's bring this to the people bill- let's save this country.

Mike,

What ever motivates you vote for your choice for president is your business. Before McCain nominated Sarah Pailn I was going to vote none of the above, because I felt there was no choice.
My motivation for speaking out against the McCain Palin ticket comes from two places. First, she would like to take the polar bear off the endangered species list. This fact is where I knew her from long before the McCain/Palin ticket. Having worked to the Polar Bear Protection Act I can tell you that the US Fish and Wildlife Service did produce reports for her regarding the science behind the protection of the Polar Bear, and she hired 3 scientists to review the material and they came up with the same findings, and yet she would like to see the Polar Bear and the other animals off the protection list.
Secondly, her stance on abortion with no choice being given to women who are victims of rape or incest is a very real issue for me. The fact that in the next 8 years she/McCain could change the complexion of the Supreme Court is a very real problem. Justice Blackburn’s decision could easily be overturned by a more conservative court.
Whether it was 5 colleges/universities in 6 years or 6 colleges/universities in 5 years comes into the issue because I don't want someone practicing brain surgery on our country with such an academic record.
The other facts are, I am insulted by the choice of Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential candidate, not the least of which is that she is a reflection of the poor educational foundation in this country. She is not even close in educational background to any of the other world leaders who have been women in positions of President or Prime Minister. Again, she is no Margaret Thatcher or Angela Merkel.
Because of McCain's age and previous cancer, which chemo therapy and radiation do weaken the cardiovascular system; Sarah Palin is really one heart beat away from the presidency. To put it in terms that best describe her abilities, one might say she is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but at times I don't think she is even in the shed. Using the word Vacant to describe her is a kindness, she is just plain stupid, and even John McCain had to sit with her and keep her quiet, because she is an embarrassment, not only to the Republican Party, but also to John S. McCain III who picked her as a candidate.

Yes, I was being flippant...Grumpy and the Cheerleader, but if you turn down the sound, that is exactly what it looks like; Dad and the Cheerleader in the Vice Principal's office.

Unknown said...

clydene, I won't be voting for either party. I am just trying to point out how corrupt both sides are.And how antiquated our political system is. An electoral college? does your vote really count? Unknown said...

Bill,

I saw you on Jon Stewart.

My gut reaction is this:

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill. I will choose not to decide; I will choose free will.

Penny Blackledge (and Geddi)
Phoenix&Raleigh. Love ya!

p.s. You should run for President, but I can honestly say, I would NEVER. Maybe they'll be ready for you in 2016 or so. Just please don't pick a loser, pick someone dingy but smart like Charro???

Ralph Nader would be a better choice for me, had Sarah Palin not made all these statements, I would have voted for our buddy Ralph. I have voted for him in the past to make sure he gets his Federal Election funding because I believe in that part of the system. I also believe he continues raise important environmental and social issues.

I just cannot support McCain/Palin, and each day becomes outrageous than the last. At first my friends and I would laugh over all the mistakes she made; now it has become something that we find insulting to the collective intelligence of women.

The New Arch Druid's take on the news said...

I was watching Bill Maher on The Daily Show this evening and I think that I have no problem answering the difference between the Anti-Christ and the Devil. Well yes, this Druid did read the bible through. So here goes for Bill Maher, the Devil--Satan, variously described throughout the bible. In the Book of Job, he actually becomes God's agent to test Job's faith. Just as he was God's agent to test whether Adam and Eve were willing to follow God's instructions in the Garden of Eden. The devil then tests Christ's faith in the New Testament.

The anti-Christ or false Christ. This is a fellow who shows up, puts on all the subterfuge of being Christ returned, but who actually speaks and does the opposite of Christ in the bible. Thus, speaks with the tongue of the dragon (Satan). Essentially, the Anti-Christ is the front man for Satan in this "final war of Good v Evil" as detailed in the Book of Revelations.

So, if Bill Maher finds that the Christians he asks concerning what the status of the Anti-Christ really is and the Christians have a hard time answering that; noted that there are those posting here who can quote scripture, but I certainly wonder just how much of their own scripture they understand.

From the New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/30/us/politics/30palin.html?_r=1&scp=3&sq=palin%20&st=cse&oref=slogin

by Elisabeth Bumiller and Patrick Healy:

....And this is a moment of real high anxiety, a little bit like 9/11, when people look to Washington for comfort and leadership and want to know that people in charge know what they are doing.”

Ms. Palin, of Alaska, continues to draw large crowds, is helping Mr. McCain with fund-raising and drawing volunteers, and is drumming up support among base Republican voters who were once skeptical of his candidacy, party leaders said in interviews. Yet these rough two weeks have led some Republicans to reconsider their initial assessment that she would sharply increase Mr. McCain’s appeal among women and independent voters.

Her halting interview with Katie Couric on CBS News alarmed many Republicans and gave fodder for a devastating parody on Saturday Night Live.

“I think the Katie Couric interview shows that she needs to be briefed more on certain aspects,” said Jim Greer, the Republican chairman in Florida. “She continues to be viewed very positively by the base of the party, but she needs to demonstrate that she’s got the knowledge and ability to be president should the need arise.”

Polling suggests that the number of Americans who think she is not fit to be president has increased since her introduction to the country last month. A number of conservative columnists and thinkers have publicly turned against her, or criticized Mr. McCain for choosing her, including George Will, David Brooks and Kathleen Parker, who wrote a column entitled “She’s Out of Her League” for the National Review Online.

Mr. Frum noted the difficulty that Dan Quayle, who was elected vice president in 1988, had in recovering from an early set of mistakes that led him to be ridiculed as an intellectual lightweight. “The story of Dan Quayle is he did probably 1,000 smart things as vice president, but his image was locked in and it was very difficult to turn around,” he said. “And Dan Quayle never in his life has performed as badly as Sarah Palin in the last month.”

happybjulie - 1)What makes it O.K. to shoot a four legged animal but not abort an unwanted, unplanned, embryo in its earliest stages? Do you realize you are comparing a human life to a deer? Deer aren't even smart enough to get out of the way of an oncoming car. Secondly, God provided animals as a means to feed ourselves. God did not provide animals so that they could be hunted as trophies, that is a choice that people make. 2) What if that baby will starve or be mistreated? Again, this is a consequence of the choices that humans make, it's not the child's fault. Surely you can see the difference in value between a human life and the life of an animal? Do you truly believe that because a woman has made horrible choices or been raped, that the human being inside her has no right to live? These are very sad circumstances, but I believe that God can use those circumstances for good. Lastly, there are many people who say they are "religious", but only a very, very few who are true Christians (I am guessing less than 10%)-so I would encourage you not to base any opinions on the majority. As Mark Twain once said - " Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." Thanks and holla back!

So Bill, I just watched your guest appearance on The Daily Show and well you know how you made the comment that America is cut in half and one half of America is trying to change into a progressive modern Europe and the other half is wanting to stay the same blamed on the "stupid people" of the south? well just to let you know, I am from the south of "stupid people" and you're wrong. I'm all for a new and better America, but there are many successful people and VERY MANY smart people who are as smart if not smarter than your "messiah" that you praise called Obama. So when you refer to the south how about you give some of it credit, don't assume that since Mississippi is nothing but inbred dumbasses that the entire south is. Without the south, the planes and vehicles you travel to badmouth the south and spread your democratic views like your're trying to convert everyone in wouldnt be available because there wouldnt be any oil and fuel to get them around. And i know you don't have alternate transportation thats "environment friendly." So how about you think before you open that shithole you call a mouth.

More people need to consider what they do want from a candidate rather than constantly repeating over and over, ad nauseam, what they don't want from a candidate. Obama and McCain both have their cheerleaders...a bunch of mouthy morons who just repeat the same old spiel about how bad the other guy is and hardly exalt the greatness which makes them choose whom they will eventually vote for. Choosing our candidates based on how bad the other guy seems to be, using some warped, perverse Occam's Razor seems only to lead to the same qualities we don't want in the ones we opt for ourselves.

Bill, your mom must be very proud of you. You have grown up to be a foul mouthed, condescending elitist who thinks anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid and whose only way to make a point is at the expense of others. Anyone who doesn't share your off-the-wall political views or your view of the ridiculousness of religion is fair game for personal attacks. You don't like the politics so you don't like the person so you ridicule their kids.

By that logic, I could say that your mom must have been the dumbest and most incompetent mother on the face of the earth. Notice, unlike you, I cleaned up my language to describe the woman your mom isn't! Just think how it would feel had I used your language to describe your mother.

While most of America is content to have differences of opinions on important issues, debate those issues respectfully, or sometimes heatedly, you seem to be limited in either intellect or vocabulary to carry on this type of honest dialogue.

Given that your show is a diatribe against Republicans and your success mostly because you have the benefit of stacking the deck with like-minded extremist as panelist, I wonder how long before you are canceled if Obama wins the election. I mean what material will you have to work with then?

Finally, while I have no problem with gays or supporting gay rights, don't you think its a bit over the top to have your colleague raving about being on his knees on national television. And why is that gay's seem compelled to put their sexuality and practices in the public domain? Is it necessary for the heterosexual community to know what goes on behind their closed doors? Of course, neither decorum, objectivity, or fairness have ever been a part of your show.

Really, why would you, with the resources available to you, want to live in such a backward country, as you put it, the "US of Stupid America". As you said on the Daly Show, you want for a European-like country. I think Johnny Depp might help you find a place in France, such a wonderful example of progress, cultural diversity, and intellect!
Can we help you pack?

Hi Bill, Everytime I see you on TV and hear you, I just get so sad. You seem to think you are free but you are enslaved by your hatred and anger. I am Roman Catholic and the beauty of my faith is that only sinners are welcomed. Weak people make up the Church and we are called to love our enemies and bless those who persecute us. There is tremendous freedom in that. You are on my heart and in my prayers. No that you are truly loved and so are your faithful viewers. Through the Intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sacred Heart of Jesus, may you receive peace in your heart and true joy!

And do you know why we celebrate Christmas on December 25th....Because Constanine was born on December 25th...The believe that the taxes on Jews that would have been effect during Roman rule would have been in April...making Jesus an Aries, and that is why they called him the Lamb of God. Additionally, the 12 tribes of Isreal have had astrological symbols assigned to them....

The last time I looked at the Topic of this Blog was “Republicans, stop calling Obama elitist”. I understand that religion can, will and has been used in political discussions, debates and laws, but we might want to think twice about starting arguments that can’t be won. Perhaps you never had a parent or teacher who explained that the hardest argument to win is one where both sides have been right and both have been wrong and made mistakes… many, many, many mistakes… and for many, many, many years. And if you know your history, both church and science have made quite a few mistakes. And so have both of our political parties. One should never believe without questioning. Even Christ taught his followers to question their old traditions and beliefs.

But it is not anyone’s duty in this or any other Blog to tell someone what is in their heart, what they believe in and whether or not they will or will not go to hell or heaven. That goes for anyone writing here and particularly Mr. Maher. What he does or does not believe regarding God is between him and God. The last I knew, his job as a TV personality is to get ratings by making people talk and hopefully listen just a little bit to each other. He’s not going to get it right every time nor will any of us. But if he makes us think and ask ourselves if we have it right, or perhaps, just perhaps we might find that our own prejudices and preconceived biases might be wrong, then I would say he’s done his job. He’s not paid to get us into heaven or convert us – that’s religion’s job. Neither should it be our governments!

Very pertinent comment about this insane narcissism that makes Americans want to see a reflection of themeselves everywhere and in everyone. In the Greek myth, it's just about Narcisse and his reflexion. That's chill.
But we're talking about an entire country here, that affects many others. A hockey mom running for presidency flatter's the average hillbilly's ego with the whole "she's just like me!1!one!!" thing going on.
Are they THAT fucking individualistic stupid fucks?

The fact that a woman like Palin even got this far makes me scared. But the fact that there's actually a possibility of her governing your country? That's just hilarious and terrifiying at the same time.

Anyways, I love your show, your razorblade criticism, and I think that as one of the rare lucid ones, you should keep shouting.

First of all, I'm a Republican and am as smart as Barack Obama. He went to Pepperdine for his Bacherlor's. I went to Michigan. Granted, he went to Harvard for his law degree, and I didn't. But I know a lot of lawyers who are better regarded as trial lawyers than Obama, and they went to inferior law schools and didn't make law review.

Second, he sends his kids to private school. Other than my law degree from a Jesuit univeristy, I am a product of the public schools, and I have no intention of sending my kid to a private school or homeschooling him prior to college.

The only people that I know who went to private, non-parochial schools for grade school and high school are elitist snobs, and that's what Obama's kids will turn out to be.

Third, the man has a wine cellar in his house in Chicago. I have a wine rack, and every wine in the rack cost less than $10. People with wine cellars don't buy Two-Buck Chuck or Korbel Brut, which is what I buy. And I have the feeling that Sen. Obama doesn't have any Leinenkugal Red or Sam Adams Oktoberfest in his refrigerator, as I do.

And remember that he commented in Iowa about the price of food at either Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. I can't remember which. But elitiest people shop at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. If he wasn't an elitest, he would shop in Chicago at either Jewel, owned by SuperValu, or Dominick's, owned by Safeway.

Something tells me that he doesn't listen to the farm show on Saturday on WGN-AM. I do, because my parents both grew up on farms in the Great Plains.

Considering that Illinois is usually #2 in corn harvested and among the top 5 in soybean harvest, Obama might want to learn a bit more about farming. Of course, only a non-elite simpleton would think about betting his financial future that the weather will cooperate, while a fancy-pants genius would get a job in a plush office on LaSalle St.

Oh, and Obama's kids admitted that their father doesn't like ice cream. How elitist is that?

I've been following Bill's latest interviews, and he's been catching a lot of flack for calling Palin a "bimbo"... he defends himself saying that W. is also a bimbo and the term is not gender specific.

According to wikipedia:
"This word derives from the Italian bimbo, a word deriving from "bambino" (=child) a masculine term gender that means (male) baby or very young (male) child (its feminine equivalent is bimba)."

So, Palin is a bimba, and W. is a bimbo. and if Bill refers to Palin as a bimbo, he's trying to be gender nonspecific as one does when dealing with words from the Latin languages like French, Spanish or Italian. And i can assure you that there are no dumb men or women in this world, just dumb people.

First, about me so my comment can be understood. I came up in a conservative/religious (sharing many of Sarah Palin's philosophies) home. I then went to a public university only to get raped by reality.

What I find sad is not so much who is in the White House or our choice of replacements; I find it embarrassing that so many people living in the United States are choosing ignorance instead of knowledge. While academic education may instill some level of critical thinking, many have abandoned even the simplest forms of thinking only to look to "Papa Washington" to take care of everything for us. If this country is gradually becoming more stupid, then we can no longer blame politicians.

So, while I do feel migranes coming on from watching the "substance-free" debates, I do not blame those in office. I blame us. We have the resources. So we deserve awful leaders if we continue to evade our responsibilites and hide behind various excuses for ignorance such as religion or lack of formal education.

Mr Maher,
I take serious offense to your comment about Mrs. Palin, the "AVON Lady" as if we, all AVON representatives are uneducated, mis~placed women. Well let me educate you Mr. Maher. I am an educated woman. I quit my full time job to sell AVON. AVON women run their own business some of which are multi~million dollar businesses.

AVON is the #1 direct sales company in the world. The AVON name is recognized by 90% of the worlds population. Last year AVON's men's fragrance "Derek Jeter" out sold every men's line of fragrances in the world. AVON out sold Amway and Mary Kay by billions of dollars last year and all of this is due to "AVON Ladies".

So Mr. Maher, from now on please know the facts behind the name you are calling someone. Instead of insulting Mrs Palin, you actually gave her a really good compliment. But in the context in which you used it, you do owe all the AVON Ladies around the world an appology.

The Lord Jesus Christ does not change. Jesus Christ IS The One True and Living God. Jesus Christ IS Almighty God manifest in the flesh, and He saves by His grace. Repent. The Doctrine of Jesus Christ IS Sound.

The Holy Scriptures in the Bible say if any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of the Lord Jesus, that he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Repent. Jesus Christ IS Almighty God manifest in the flesh, and He saves by His grace.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

But I know you won't because at your heart, you are a coward.

Your film and your comments on God are based on an obvious attempt to be funny and in my opinion are blasphemous and sick. You mock God, which grieves my spirit and your comments are offensive and based on a lack of knowledge of history, science, and facts. Just because your are from "hollywood" does not make you factually correct, as much as the liberal media would like America to believe. But guess what Bill.. i will be at the showing of your disgusting movie..doing the work of an evangelist, ministering Gods word to the lost and the seekers of truth.
i will use your horrible movie and your mockery of God to bring others to Jesus Christ.

Republicans might suck at running the country, but they sure do an amazing job running elections. It's like they concede ahead of time that they're not more qualified, so they just call more qualified elitist. The scariest thing is they're not even pretending any more. Nobody thinks Palin is qualified, including Sarah Palin. Does this hurt the McCain ticket? Don't be ridiculous. Palin is so unbelievably unqualified that the only stat that will matter from the only VP debate is this: 84% of viewers said she did better than they expected.

Pastor Dennis,

I don't think Bill is mocking God. He is mocking all the outrageous thoughts that people have about God, Jesus and religious thought.

I learned more about Jesus and his thoughts by just reading the RED parts of my Bible. I did that one month and wrote down what I gleaned from just reading the RED, which is suppose to be just his thoughts and words. I was interesting and eye opening...and a lot less judgmental than you would expect.

"Hey,

I'm pleased to announce that the Conspiracy Cards website is almost done.
Since my last e-mail...I've added a lot of information blurbs and embedded
movies for each cards and their topics. There are 147 cards up there so far...
that's a lot of research as you can imagine. I've also produced a prototype
set of cards that look great in my opinion. I truly hope their printing becomes
a reality soon so that I can send out actual card packages. Please let me know
if you'd be interested in a set of cards.

What's new on the site since the last e-mail :

- Each page is optimized with an audio control bar and additional information
blurbs with embedded movies on their respective topics.

- The new Categories page allows you to specifically select the card or topic page.

- You can see the prototype cards by clicking on the 'Where can I buy these cards'
rollover on the home page, Donate page and the 'NEXT' on the Categories page.

- Donate page will be linked to Pay Pal soon. The Matrix embedded youtube is
INTERACTIVE towards the end...check it out...cool stuff.

So now I'm debating whether to associate my name with this project or not.
What's vitally important is that the message actually gets out. If my name and
reputation in the Fantasy-SciFi industry would spark up additional intrigue... I guess
I'll have to use that. Just wondering if you have a any thoughts or advice on that.

Hope to hear from you, check out the website and let me know what ya think.
Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

Cheers,

bailout
i heard the horrifying news today
our times will never be the same
the power's out of the congress
and back in the hands who made this mess
a billion here ten billion there
creating credit out of thin air
a hundred billion for mortgage debt
which speculation unfortunately let
get out of hand out of control
the times of socialism we will behold
sooner or later those times are here
but politicians say never fear
for they will rescue you today
with promises of jobs and higher pay
failing to mention the higher cost
of endless wars and trillions lost
on imperialism and the fall of rome
lets watch it burn from your foreclosed home
thinking we're free in this non-democracy
while they pull the strings behind the scenes
why does government choose to bailout out
the greedy investors with political clout
the multi-national corporate share
the exxonmobile love affair?
the worthless securites of foreign banks
expecting us to just say "thanks"
apparently in my disgust
they gonna lend it back to us
its time to take a stand against
internal political decadence
we choose our leaders we vote them in
will our children ever forgive our sin
for what we'll leave them ten years from now
a disgraceful legacy we will have allowed
an insurmounting deficit
a one pound bag with two pounds of shit
a foreign policy which breeds the hate
a fact we never contemplate
so when will we ever take a stand
letting the cradle will rock the hand
let love rule us let us see the light
instead of all this global plight
lets come together and stand on common ground
reverberating all around
and in conclusion i hope that i
have opened at least one of your eyes
the only one you can really trust
is the third one, thats the one you must
listen to when alls in doubt
when nothing can be figured out
just sit in silence with your own thoughts
asking, expecting what is sought

I'm a woman from Alaska. I used to like Sarah Palin as our governor until she opened up her mouth espousing her "moral" social issues. Then came her idiotic interviews, where she either babbled incessantly or totally ignored the questions. I'm insulted that McCain thought he could bring in some dumb cheerleader and expect to draw in women voters. When that dumb bastard croakes, we'll have that winking idiot Sarah as president. How horrifying is that??!!

I love that even with most of Bills stuff being primarily about the US only it actually has a much wider effect, even here in the UK we get front page coverage on our newspapers about how dumb Sarah Palin is, when your being called dumb by a newspaper which usually goes on celebrities getting boob jobs, then hell you guys have got some serious thinking to do.

I'm surprised anyone who claims to be "patriotic" votes for the Republican party as well theyve ctonributed this so far: 2 Middle eastern wars in the same area, privatised your healthcare, making you the most short lived devloped coutnry in the world (comeon even the scottish live longer than the average American and they batter chocolate bars and have them for breakfast). Whilst democrats sent people into out of space, developed new technologies that were far more significant globally than the Republicans and well my all time favourite: 99% of Europe has Obamas vote, the 1% of Europe who doesnt, really doesnt know who he is.

So in my opinion, for an easy opinion about who to vote for, take it from the Europeans (you know where your founding fathers came from) get the black guy in, hell do better than the guy who needs viagra to stand properly.

Hi DorothyAnchorage

Thanks for your post. Interestingly, I have talked with two friends who were just in Alaska for vacations, and they said that from the wait staff to the tour guides and almost everyone they encountered did not support Sarah Palin.

There was some large rally in one of your towns that was against Sarah Palin that was 3 or 4 times the size of the rally for Sarah Palin, but that was not picked up in the news.

Well...good for you...when she doesn't win the VP position I hope you guys throw her out of office in Alaska, because she does not support the environment.

Again, please tell me who is the dumbo?

Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?

Palin: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.

Couric: What, specifically?

Palin: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years.

Couric: Can you name a few?

Palin: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, "Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?" Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/03/raw-data-transcript-fox-news-interview-palin/

CAMERON: This morning -- last night, when you were in the Spin Room and people came flowing in there. And one of the questions that a lot of folks said was, OK, where was the Governor Palin and Katie Couric interview that just debated and arguably defeated Joe Biden in a vice presidential debate.

There's (INAUDIBLE), I know you know. What happened? Go ahead --

PALIN: Well, OK. I'll tell you. Honestly. The Sarah Palin in those interviews is a little bit annoyed. Because it's like, no matter what you say, you're going to get clobbered. If you cease to answer a question, you're going to get clobbered on the answer. If you choose to try to pivot and go on to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that, too.

But, in the Katie Couric interviews, I did feel that there were a lot of things that she was missing, in terms of an opportunity to ask what a V.P. candidate stands for. What the values are represented in our ticket.

I wanted to talk about Barack Obama increasing taxes, which would lead to filling jobs. I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars. (AUDIO GAP) that he's made about the war that I think make my world -- disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief. Some of the comments that he's made about Afghanistan, what we're doing there, supposably, just air raiding villages and killing civilians. That's reckless and I want to talk about things like that.

So, I guess I have to apologize for being a bit annoyed. But, that's also an indication of being outside of that Washington elite, outside of the media elite, also. And just getting to talk to Americans without the filters and let them know what we stand for.

CAMERON: OK. So, at the risk of annoying you, when you are asked, what do you read? Which papers and magazines? You didn't answer it.
Or, you said, I have all kinds of resources.

PALIN: Right, right, right.

CAMERON: Well, what do you read?

PALIN: I read the same things that other people across the country read, including the "New York Times" and the "Wall Street Journal" and the "Economist" and some of these publications that we've recently even been interviewed through up there in Alaska.

Because, of everything that we're doing with oil and gas, a lot of the investment publications especially are interviewing us, asking us how are being so successful up there in contributing to our nation's step towards energy independence.

CAMERON: Sure.

PALIN: So, my response to her. I guess it was kind of filtered.
But, I was sort of taken aback, like, the suggestion was, you're way up there in a far away place in Alaska. You know, that there are publications in the rest of the world that are read by many. And I was taken aback by that because I don't know, the suggestion that this was a little bit of perhaps we're not in tune with the rest of the world.

CAMERON: Well, the idea's not to be dodging the questions. But, you've heard the question already from Katie, about Supreme Court decisions that you disagree with.

PALIN: Oh, yes.

CAMERON: But, as a conservative, there are some in the Republican Party who would expect a vice presidential nominee to understand judicial conservatives and to have something that they might object to.

PALIN: And that's fair. Right. And on that one, truly I shouldn't have been so (INAUDIBLE) and (INAUDIBLE) that. Because that was an important question and I should have answered it.

And yes, I can cite a lot of cases that I absolutely disagree with the Supreme Court on.

CAMERON: Is there one particularly? Or a couple, or something that --

PALIN: A couple.

CAMERON: -- exemplifies or illustrates what your sort of judicial philosophy would be?

PALIN: Sure. A recent one, Kennedy versus Louisiana, where the Supreme Court will tell a state that they can't impose the death penalty, even on heinous (ph) crime of repeat child rapists. That a state, it's rights are taken away by the Supreme Court and we would not be able to decide for ourselves whether the death penalty in a case like that should be implemented or not.

That one -- I'm certainly not a supporter of that decision. The
(INAUDIBLE) case also, with imminent domain. That affects me, as a governor. It affected me as a mayor, also. Part that property rights are so precious in this nation and for the Supreme Court to have sided with government, instead of the people, the property owners on that.
That was frustrating.

And then another one personally affected me, also. The Exxon
(INAUDIBLE) oil spill. Deciding what the oil company, as they decimated Alaska's coastline and much of our fisheries and much of our coastal communities livelihoods -- the people who live there. And they sided with Exxon on the punishment, the punitive damage that was to be awarded. Exxon won on that one in a sense that --

CAMERON: Governor, people hear that answer and they're going to be mystified. They're going to say, wait a minute. That's the Sarah Palin that we saw when he first joined the ticket. That when you hit the campaign trail, that invigorated Republican.

I mean, is this going to (INAUDIBLE) one of those situations where it's Palin versus the press? And it depends on who asks the questions?

PALIN: That would be the worst strategy ever that I could think of. And I have a journalism degree, so I know how you guys work, also.

I'll tell you, what I used to do is commit to not being so annoyed and impatient with mainstream media. And I will make that commitment because I do understand that that is how I speak to the American people in a position like this. I speak to you and through you and that way, that message is received by American people.

So, I apologize for the (INAUDIBLE) response that I gave through that interview on a couple of questions. I'm going to try harder. But, I would ask also then, that the media tries a little bit harder also.
And that this is a two-way street. That there's fairness. Just objectivity and fairness and truth. That's all Americans ask for.

CAMERON: Objectivity, fairness?

PALIN: And that is all Americans ask for. As we send our young men and women overseas in a war zone to fight for democracy and freedoms, including freedom of the press, you've really got to have a mutually beneficial relationship here. With fighting for the freedom of the press and then the press, though, not taking advantage of that and exploiting a situation that perhaps that they would want to capture and abuse the privilege.

We just want truth, we want fairness. We want that balance.

He's been on Fox and was treated fairly (but he's too scared to go up against Hannity and last I heard Ann Coulter was one of his best friends, but she's nowhere to be found on "his" show). I watch "all" of them and Fox actually is "fair and balanced" and MSNBC is completely an Obama d*** sucker. If you are so smart, you would scope out all avenues of the News instead of relying on Maddow and the cast of MSNBC.

And again, I say Duh!

FOR YEAR0: Here You Go

T. J . Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won't be given serious consideration. How great is our bureaucracy!!

Hi Pals,

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed
by one of our candidates for President.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion

We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Kindest personal regards,

Birk

T. J . Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it's either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!

The Birk plan sounds fantastic unfortunately the math is flawed a little. 85,000,000,000 divided by 200,000,000 is only $425.00 per person not 425,000.

Also, why is everyone giving Bill Maher such a hard time for bashing people when that is exactly what you come here to do to him... and everyone else... and each other? Aren't we all guilty? Give a guy a break, he is a a comedian.. he gets paid to knock people. It just so happens his forte is political satire. Do we bash political cartoonists the way Bill Maher gets bashed? I think not LOL.

Keep up the good work Bill... Get Americans thinking... that is the ones who still can.

Your Racism is showing right through your postings...It is obvious that you have a problem with Barack Obama because he is black...WOAH....that is what is obvouos...you BIGGOT.

What color are you sheets?

No clydene, I am not racist, just stating a fact. Obama is the one who brought the fact "he doesn't look like your ordinary Candidate". Why would everyone say History would be made if he wasn't? I am no more racist against him as you are against McCain and Palin, i.e. age and gender!

Luci: Very well said.

To all who think that every news media is biased except FOX News, it should be noted that according to the polls taken by the “Program on International Policy Attitudes” ( pipa.org ) 80% of FOX News viewers held erroneous impressions about Saddam’s ties to al Qaeda and his possession of WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) . In contrast, only 23% of those who followed the news on the Public Broadcasting System and National Public Radio were similarly misinformed. And, to this day, FOX (like almost all the network news media) has refused to admit to any of their involvement in getting us into the war. Whether it’s right or wrong for being there, we shouldn’t be lied to get there.

I’m not saying that PBS doesn’t have its own biases, but they aren’t owned by big-business conglomerates that care more about ratings than honesty.

So, when we all listen to specific sources of news (or Bill Maher) more because they agree with our views and not because we feel we’re getting unbiased information, it might be helpful to turn on the news channels we hate the most and just for a while, listen to what the other guy is saying. The worst that could happen would be that you understand “the enemy’s” point of view.

Normally I don’t forward information, but the quotes here are accurate and might be good additional insight with the recent fun of bashing Wall Street….

Harry Truman, from Missouri, was a different kind of President. He probably made as many important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other presidents. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

Historians have written the only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence Missouri . On top of that, his wife inherited the house from her Mother.

When he retired from office in 1952, his income was a U..S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of
$25,000 per year.

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There was no Secret Service following them.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.

Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choices early in life were either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference."

Bill, check out the latest column at www.peoplepoliticspablum.com

It is a pretty conservative blog, but this is a warning to McCain not to get too ugly in his attacks. You'll like it.

First- you down-grade Moose-burgers as if they are a bad thing. Have you had one? Not me, but I can't judge a Moose before eating it. Second, I am voting for McCain because Obama rhymes with Osama, his middle name is Husein, (spelling?) and maybe that makes me incredibly full of shit. But McCain has experience and Obama doesn't. And Palin is fantastic! Can you put a poster of Biden in a bikini holding a hunting rifle on your bedroom wall?? YIKES!!

Bill-
I apologize for my blogging colleague Wilber- I know he is a pig and makes you feel bad with his GAY comments. I do not share all of yur views but I respect you. ESPECIALLY after seeing your movie RELIGULOUS!! HAH! THAT was a GREAT movie!! LIKE IT! I was a Christian till 29 years old, then for 4 years I followed Judaism. But where is GOD?!? Maybe He will answer my prayer for rain- but not WATER- 100 dollar bills! Im praying right now.....

I just saw "Religulous" and now I feel a little more sane. I am a public middle school art teacher in an urban school district. My first year of teaching, I attended our convocation and was shocked to hear the leaders of our school district lead us in prayer. I am often confounded when teachers and students are forced to say the Pledge and refer to God. I have long understood that my (lack of) religious beliefs has made me a "freak," a "sinner," and someone to pray for. I am frustrated that it is religion is openly expressed in our classrooms-- if I were to express my beliefs to fellow teachers, they would either pray for me on the spot or tell everyone I am Satan. I am more frustrated when students ask me what church I go to and I feel fear and anxiety when I tell them I don't believe in religion. It is truly scary that non-believers are (in a sense) persecuted. I am constantly trying to figure out how to lead my students by example, but issues like this have me stumped.
Do you have any suggestions for a public school teacher?
Also, my urban school children who desperately need positive role models consistently showed Obama in their Hero collages. THAT is NOT elitism!

Emily-
Unfortunately as far as religious views are concerned, and how the religious view your "heretical" life, is just something you will have to live with. But stand up for yourself- they will cry "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" but you can do the same. And you can STOP them from A) praying for you and B) uttering their lame opinions of your sinful existence by stopping them in mid sentence and telling them that they are harassing you. By law, harassment begins when the victim issues a statement objecting to WHATEVER form of behavior or verbal abuse. Once you tell them they are harassing you they MUST STOP BY LAW.

NoRedNeckAgenda said...

Emily- I know and relate to how you are feeling. When something like 80% of Americans believe in fairy tales the sane person is the outcast, but you Are the sane one.

wilber said...

Now, let me get this straight!

Bill bashes - that's good!

Wilber bashes - that's bad!

Bill says along with 20% of Americans, No God - that's good!

80% of Americans say God Exist - that's bad!

So if McCain or Palin or God, issued a statement to Maher to stop the verbal abuse - is that still considered Harassment By Law?

Derrik Scott said...

I dont know....Maybe we should not bash faith too fast. After all, Jesus has returned, he's in Puerto Rico last I heard. At least that is what I found out in Bill's new MOVIE!! (thank you jesus....)

pricklypear78 said...

Wilbur,
you basically got it...
You can pray all you want-- in church, at home, outside, but NOT dictated by a school... that's, um, BAD. (and illegal).

when did the notion that only an average "guy" is able to lead the nation? shouldn't the leader suppose to be the best and the brightest? why is it that the degree as to which you are qualified is determined by how simple-minded you are and especially how often you go to church

also the patriot stuff did you know that the republican phrasing and wording and the overall logic is derived directly from Goering? if you dont know who Goering is - I do he was a countryman of mine 60 years ago he was the nazi communications director...
he said the following

"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

-Hermann Goering, 1946

NOW take a look at what the republican retheric is like and you know what kind of people you will get - tell you its for self defense and go in for oil its just lies and manipulations and you let it happen as Germans did. take a look at history is this the kind of company you want to be associated with?

You bring up a very good point that I noticed with John S. McCain III...if you say it long enough and loud enough it will be true even though it was a lie. Oddly enough Herr Göring was also a fighter pilot...

Unfortunately, the rise of the Nazi party happened after a disastrous War and major economic depression in Germany...Does this sound familiar to anyone...

However much of the of Zeitgeist ideology and Aryan Supremacy was corrupted by the Nazis. The big bogie man then was the communists as terrorists. Does this sound familiar...but I digress.

Hermann Göring, or for Americans Hermann Goering...conversion of the umlaut...was in part responsible for the logistics of he Holocaust..it is hard to remember but I think at the trials at Nuremberg they accused him of shipping 5,000 Jews per day to the death camps by train, and he retort was that the trains only could ship 2,000 Jews per day to the camps. A delightful human being indeed.

If their was any way to make money off of these toxic assets. The scum on wall street would be breaking down the door to get to them. Not gleefully handing them over.

Bill,

You're only among the elite when you have the power to rig an election, and have friends in the right positions to help you make it happen; perhaps like the CEO of Diebold.

Please raise this issue on an upcoming show before the election and call for a national campaign to make sure what happened in 2004 does not happen again.

Thanks,
Tony

Ok- about the republican bashing, and about the 700 Billion Dollar Bailout bill.

Republican bashing:
So your views differ (vehemently) with conservative views. It's part of what makes this nation great- for now. But the truth is that if you are a strict Republican OR a strict Democrat you have some major political issues to deal with. The nation is in a bad way, and part of the cause is our continued separatist views. Democrats and Republicans need to be done away with, and a new standard needs to be implemented, that deals with the issues at hand and not with just BASHING THE OTHER PARTY'S VIEWS. You can bash McCain all you want but the truth is that McCain has some very good ideas and some not so good ideas, and the same goes for Obama. He has some good and some bad ideas. It is up to us, given the evidence and what they each claim they will do for the country, to decide for ourselves which is the better choice. It is just so sad that a large percentage of Obama's support has to do with his freaking skin color. (present company excluded.) I vote for he with the experience to lead. That is not Obama. AND- McCain has one agenda on his ticket that CALLS to me- cleaning up the greed, and misuse of tax money, and government funds for personal gain in Washington. Both McCain and Palin want to get rid of illegitimate Government agencies, get rid of "Pork-barrel-spending", and "Earmark" spending- with me those are equally as important as the energy crisis, and Obama has not said anything about those issues until McCain and Palin continued to resonate those thoughts in their campaign. (Darn copy-cats.)

700 billion dollar bailout:
I wrote my senator and my congressman about this issue and gave the reasons I am opposed. You say that the leaders "drag the people" along and do whatever, but that bill did NOT pass at first, BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE. We DO have power over elected officials and they know it. However, I am glad the bill passed, (at THIS point...) because not doing SOMETHING will be economically catastrophic- it WOULD initiate a new depression, and if the USA has a depression TODAY- it will be DIRE INDEED considering how important every industry in our society depends upon every other industry in society. What would happen if trucking simply stopped? How long would it take for companies like Wal-Mart and Target among thousands of others, to fail? What if electrical companies failed? The postal system? Insurance companies? Car dealers nation wide? CATASTROPHIC ECONOMICAL COLLAPSE. We need this bill, at this point, and it needs to work.
